If there's one thing that not even these trying times managed to hinder is the flux of creative forces that feeds the ecosystem of likeminded collectives of which we are a proud and productive part. And, one year after our lives were upended, the web of music we managed to weave with our peers throughout the globe remains as strong as ever, simply because it is made of the most universal language devised by mankind and nurtured by the passionate participation of its components. This is how we maintained a strong sense of unity with crews such as Huntlers & Palmers, one whose members we know are deeply devoted to the same musical principles and wholly invested in the same communal values as ourselves. Those are the main reasons why we are more than happy to receive someone who's been striving to accomplish the mission of recreating those delightful moments of dancing joy with the same dedication, within or without the dancefloor. Andrew Thomson, our guest for this episode personifies all of these traits, sharing with us all the same sense of mission that nurtures all of our endeavours, now as before.

Partageant son temps entre Paris et Berlin et jouant régulièrement à New-York, Londres et Milan, elle est résidente au Dalston Superstore (Londres) ainsi que chez Rinse France. Elle a été invité plusieurs fois par Teki Latex pour son show années 90s “Overdrive infinity”, a fait l’ouverture de Roisin Murphy et apparaît lors de soirées comme Buttons à Berlin, PAT à Brooklyn, Dengue Dancing à Buenos Aires ou encore Savage à Londres. Son émission It’s Whitney, Bitch accueille, depuis 2015, des DJs queer et des producteurs du monde entier.

Bside Incoming: Lu*cy

We have another lovely chance to share some music from the Bside Team: This time we are delving into the collection of a fellow music lover; a very talented musician and vocalist with a residency playing acoustic sets at The Record Factory; and beyond being a valued member of the team she is quickly becoming the voice of Bside: Lu*cy

Few are more in tune with the industry: As an artist liaison at Scotland’s biggest dance music festivals like FLY and Terminal V, as well as in the sunny Algarve with Afro Nation. She has experience with the management and logistics at the MTV EMA’s. And has risen through the ranks at Glasgows beloved institution Sub Club, from a keen member of the crowd to PR and working the door, and now proving her worth as personal assistant of the club’s director. 

Lu*cy is gonna ease us into her Sunday selections with charity shop finds and cherished classics from the likes of Dire Straits, Bowie, Prince, Donna Summers and Gloria Gaynor. Before moving things up a notch with the spine tingling picture painted of Sub Club to the back drop of Dominic Capello’s Rain, video game inspired far eastern house by Soichi Terrada, and of course a huge remix of Like a Virgin.

Last august Yu Su was temporarily residing in LA for a short time whilst on a sort of extended tour/sorting out visa combo adventure. Whilst in town we managed to write a bunch of music together (keep your eyes peeled for SCR015) and even stop by the Dublab studios for a little B2B. Well, almost a year and a half later… those tracks are about to finally see the day of light. So to truly execute this charming tableau, we got together again (virtually this time) on the same radio station for another 2 hours of fun.

'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
