Since winning our "Wild At Heart" remix contest at the end of last year, Toby Hedges has garnered global recognition as one of the leading talents in modern progressive trance and house. A winner soon thereafter of Armada's "Love Survives" remix contest, Toby has been a fixture of late on Armin's "A State of Trance" and Above & Beyond's "Group Therapy" radio shows. He also is responsible for one of Silk's top-charting tracks from the past year: his euphoric remix of eleven.five's "The Way We Were". Needless to say, we're thrilled to present his latest progressive stormer, "Images", which was a standout track from Jacob Henry & Tom Fall's "Silk Royal Showcase 03" compilation. It's now available as a full, DJ-friendly version, along with an equally climactic rendering by Swedish label veteran Johan Vilborg.

Toby's Original Mix begins with a clubby, energetic groove, as an ethereal, delayed vocal sample makes its first appearance. This emotive effect proves to be a central, recurring motif in the song, as well as one of the most memorable elements. Meanwhile, an uplifting and poignant lead synth begins to cut through the mix, as various pad layers enrich the "spiritual", world music-influenced soundscape. In the main break, the lead progression, combined with the vocal and pad themes, elicit a cathartic release in the listener.

Johan Vilborg follows suit with an adrenalin-fueled remix. A thunderous bassline and layered lead chord hint at the trance-centered bedlam to follow. As the track nears the main break, the mid-range layers are all filtered fully into the mix, in all their radiant glory. In the main break, the heavenly and fragile atmosphere of the original mix is evoked through the use of lush, yet delicate pads. The triumphant lead then appears once again, soon joined by an explosive and rapturous drop.

Silk Royal is thrilled to present Silk Remixed 04, the fourth installment of the annual series, featuring various veteran talents and rising stars in progressive. Kicking off the compilation is Nigel Good's jubilant remix of "Sumr" by Dezza & Shoreliners. Fresh off his debut artist album, which reached #1 overall on Beatport, Nigel treats us to a sparkling, complextro-influenced progressive gem, rife with feel-good vibes. Vintage & Morelli, one of the standout artists from Silk's Arrival division, offers a fresh, peak-hour take on "Night Time" by Sound Quelle. A bouncy house rhythm sits below a stormy and evocative lead, punctuated by a haunting vocal sample. The main break is a goosebumps-inducing aural experience, as the vocal motif and piano poignantly coalesce. Aeron Aether's "Synthanelia" still finds a home in our radio and live sets; Jayeson Andel, a breakthrough artist on our imprint, offers a full-on trance stormer with his new rendering, which has received early radio support from Arty. The memorable string themes of the original soar above an adrenalin-fueled, stadium-rocking groove. French talent Matt Fax, another leader of Arrival, offers a new interpretation of one of Silk Royal's early releases, Pconvolve's "Cosmology". As the title implies, celestially-inspired synths transport the listener to the far reaches of the galaxy; a progressive breaks interlude and explosive drop in the latter half of the track are true release highlights. David Broaders closes out the first half of the release with an awe-inspiring interpretation of "Starman" by Gregory Esayan. A thunderous groove resolves into a beautiful piano and string-themed breakdown; these poignant melodies are some of the most enduring from the compilation this year.

New label recruit Illuminor, a rising duo from Australia, add a bit more punch to eleven.five's classic "Pinnacle". A highly innovative groove, as well as new variations on the main piano motif from the original, stand out in this fantastic new version. Trusty label veteran Sundriver offers a driving take on Denis Laurent feat. Kaisa Martina's "All I Need". A vintage lead chord progression, with numerous euphoric synth layers and arpeggios, paves the way for Kaisa's romantic vocal in the breakdown. British sensation Ben Coda, who has contributed in the past to the Silk Remixed series, returns with a peak-hour rendering of Zack Roth's beloved "Tekkadon". A clubby groove crescendoes into the breakdown, where the newly added, trance-influenced lead shines, alongside the memorable original theme. Russian duo Soarsweep, fresh off an EP on parent label Silk Digital, offers another visionary remix; this time, they have accentuated the emotive themes of "Both", originally a collaboration between Blood Groove & Kikis and LTN. Closing out the EP, Harold-Alexis, one of the stars of our chillout division (Silk Sofa), offers a drum & bass rework of Seagrave's "Storm". With bleeding-edge sound design throughout, this emotive track will be appreciated by fans in search of visionary, outside-of-the-box EDM.

Kaimo K and Sarah Russell have a number of tracks together including 'Love Will Never Leave' and 'Angel Fly' as Kaimo's brand of atmospheric, uplifting Trance seems to fit perfectly with Sarah's angelic vocals. 'Why Can't You Love Me' is the next chapter for these two and the result is EPIC.

Ikerya Project brings us one of the best orchestral uplifting trance EPs released so far this year. Dramatic, moving, euphoric.... just breathtaking.

Erik begins with Dream Song, a cinematic and epic orchestral-style intro piece filled with powerful and thundering orchestral drums, chillout elements, and bits of male vocal chops, and euphoric flourishes.

Fantasy World continues the epic, euphoric vibe, but in the orchestral uplifting trance genre. Led by a somehow heavenly-yet-haunting, euphoric lead melody, the piece reinterprets and re-presents this melody in many different guises, be they a full symphony, angelic vocal chorus or a piano or a host of other instruments that take their turns leading the melody.

If it's possible to name the highlight of this EP, it would be Orion's Belt: A truly exquisite, unique, and smooth piece of orchestral uplifting trance that just flows. Both peaceful and euphoric, it builds up and down throughout the track, switching from mostly electronic sounds to mostly orchestral ones and Arabic instruments to a desert vokala flute, and back again. Soothing and peaceful - yet sometimes dramatically euphoric - female angelic vocals accompany the listener throughout much of the track.
