Behind The Groove (2 Step Soul Special Pt.2)

Hello music lovers!! Welcome to “Behind The Groove” a podcast hosted by Marc Mac of 4hero (UK) and Golden Child of Double Dragon and BP2 (USA).  From Dollis Hills UK to Brooklyn NYC, the connection joined forces to share our love of music to the world and music that time forgot.  The mission of this project is simply this: educate, inform, and dance! You can tell a lot about a person with their record collection.   

Marc Mac is one of a rare breed of producers who moves smoothly between different genres fitting between pseudonyms while leaving a trail of quintessential releases. Straight outta Dollis Hill London, Marc Mac is one half of the legendary outfit 4hero and also founding member of Reinforced Records a label positioned at the cornerstone of early electronic music in the UK.  In the late 90’s Marc signed to Giles Peterson’s  Talkin’ Loud Records with his group 4hero, 4hero went on to produce 2 great award winning albums with Talkin’ Loud “Two Pages” and “ Creating Patterns”.  Marc then went on to set up new labels Raw Canvas & Omniverse where he released 4Hero’s critically acclaimed “Play With The Changes” and the Visioneers project. For “Behind The Groove” Marc goes back to his roots as a ‘sound system’ selector where he started collecting music and specializing in undercover soul.

Golden Child is a drum and bass DJ from the duo Double Dragon.  Golden Child’s journey began when he ventured to London in his late teens for his love of jungle music.  During his visit, Golden Child began frequenting record shops, buying, selling and trading hip hop and r&b records for jungle records.  A friend put Golden Child on to a form of soul music being played called  “Rare Groove” and attended a Desi G & Barry White party that changed his life.  The music, the vibe, and club culture influenced Golden Child forever and has respect for UK culture.  These days you can find Double Dragon spinning alongside names such as Bryan Gee, Total Science, Crissy Criss, but Golden Child still collects records and has the basic love towards other forms of music.
