The ‘Ambi Werk’ EP is the sixth release on B:Thorough’s experimental Textured imprint, following the exploratory ‘Time Splitter’ EP, a collaboration with rising Drill producer Slick, in January 2025. This three-track project sees B:Thorough take inspiration from the world of Footwork, a genre previously explored by the artist on the well-received track Hyperdrive, released on Coyote Records in 2022.

Embodying the essence of Retrofuturism, the Footwork inspired EP blends experimental and ambient elements yet retains a nostalgic landscape. While the familiar pulse of the 808 drum machine anchors the tracks in Footwork’s rhythms, B:Thorough adds his own sound to these foundations with shimmering synths and shape-shifting textures.

Opening track ‘Glass Towel’ sets an electrifying tone with razor-sharp arpeggios. 8-bit flourishes burst like hyper-defined colour explosions, while warm, enveloping pads, chopped and twisted into rhythmic synth stabs, create a striking contrast between ambience and abundance.

The anthemic ‘Chuff’ tells the story of a passionate romance. It begins in a dreamy haze, where washed-out guitar plucks linger among tranquil pads, evoking the fleeting magic of locked eyes across a room. A perpetual crescendo unfolds; intensity builds, rhythmic layers multiply, and melodies gain grit, before the energy surges into a dramatic finale.

Closing track, ‘Screens Bleed’ bridges the EP’s sonic worlds, amplifying the signature elements of its predecessors. Its melody twists and mutates every 16 bars, with synths that glisten as if refracted through a prism.

“Jetstream / R4 EP” is the third release from B:Thorough’s Textured imprint, following the ethereal “Angels EP” released in late 2020.

TXT003 sees Coyote Records collaborators Shayu and B:Thorough link up for their first dual release. Having bonded online through a passion for sonic experimentation, they produced the two-track EP across a 500 mile distance, with Shayu in Zurich and B:Thorough in London.

The EP opens with club-ready and hard-hitting “Jetstream”, a tale of two parts. Starting off with the interweaving of Shayu’s pixelated modular melodies with B:Thorough’s weighty 808s and jagged drums, the tune descends into a spine-shaking mid-section with thick, sliding square waves that cut like a knife.

“R4” is “Jetstream’s” euphoric antithesis. Here, the pair juxtapose calming, organic field recordings taken by Shayu in the Swiss mountains, with futuristic and bright synth lines, creating an emotive soundscape fit for a Sci-Fi epic.

Having connected online through Soundcloud, B:Thorough and Slick began collaborating after an encounter on East London’s Subtle Radio. The pair’s creative synergy first captured attention with their haunting track “Double Up,” released on French Tabloid’s ‘VA 001’ compilation in March 2023 alongside heavyweights Benny Ill and Blackdown.

The EP’s opener ‘Floodlight’ immerses listeners in dense pads that envelope like a warm embrace. Gradually, the track erupts into a triumphant finale, with a majestic horn motif evoking the cinematic grandeur of the late Vangelis.

His knack for pairing euphoric melodies with wild syncopated rhythms to create futuristic, emotional soundscapes has seen his music gain support from selectors and remixers around the world. Alongside self-releasing on his own imprint “Textured,” B:Thorough’s music has been picked up by forward-thinking labels such as Boxed, Dream Eater Records and Coyote Records.

Emerging grime producer B:Thorough kicks off his new imprint, Textured, with an attention-grabbing release, enlisting Slew Dem and Boxed affiliate JT The Goon for a five-track EP titled ‘Calm Levz’. Each track has been produced collaboratively and the influence of both artists is immediately audible, with JT’s inimitable flutes and B:Thorough’s pixelated 8-bit melodies combining to create a unique fusion of grime’s past, present and future.

Opening the EP is Night Wave (Sunrise Mix), a tapestry of hard-hitting drums, melancholy strings and glittering melodies.

The EP will be released digitally and as a limited-edition cassette, which will also feature a production-only mix full of rarely-heard gems from the imprint’s head.

Angels EP is the second offering from rising grime producer B:Thorough’s experimental Textured imprint. To the delight of forward-thinking grime fans, it features a number of coveted unreleased tunes, as well as a remix from genre heavyweight Fallow, who has been on hiatus since his last release in 2019.

The six-track project, moodier and more reflective than its predecessor, shows B:Thorough’s versatility, although he manages to weave his signature pixellated melodies into all he touches.
