“No Mistakes” is about inspiring people to set a goal and stick with that goal. We believe that following dreams is a necessary life choice. Often times, however, it is very hard to follow your dreams. Society, whether we know it or not, has an enormous impact on our day-to-day and lifelong decisions. Society’s choice is not always the best choice though. We use the lyrics in this song to tell a story. Each verse has a unique perspective. The first is a dreamer who hasn’t taken initiative. The second is a third person perspective of someone who has fought through the discouragement and achieved those dreams. We used the third verse as an inspirational verse. This verse is where we are telling the listener that they need to, not only dream, but also go out and achieve those dreams. We feel that the message that is portrayed through the lyrics is further enhanced by the beat. The beat of this song is meant to feel encouraging and inspiring. We truly believe that this song has the ability to inspire others to go out and act.

No Mistakes (My Own Way)

Achieving some dreams can be very difficult, and often times, one may want to give up. Perseverance is a key element in completing any task or goal and this is the message we are sending through “Why We Do This.” The first verse of this song paints an image of progression even when one is discouraged. The second verse of this song is a soliloquy from the point of view of someone who is receiving pressure from society. This verse sets up the third and final verse. The last verse is another soliloquy speaking to the same societal pressures, except this time, the speaker has achieved their dream. The beat gives off the impression of making it over the peak, or in the case of this song, a dream.  When we wrote this song, we didn’t want to give the message that once you achieve your dream there is nothing left. Once a task is complete, a new task should be created and this process should just keep on repeating itself.

Why We Do This

Our names are Mitchell, Nick, and Ben, and we are B^3. This project was a collaboration by all three of us, and experiment to see if we could make our own music.
