After a short break we're super happy to be back with our mix series, inviting our favourite artists back into the tub to splash about and showcase their sound. 

To kick it off we're stoked to have the fantastic Ole Mic Odd dive in and lay down this killer 90s techno mix. We've been fans of the LA based DJ and producers for a while, with his raw and authentic sound always hitting the right spot. He's had some amazing releases over the year, including on some of our favourite labels, such as Source Material and Hilltown Disco, among others!

Westdale is a resident DJ at Vitamin in Brno, where he also contributes to production and club identity planning. In 2022 he founded Infame Radio, a community radio project based in the Czech Republic that has released over 400 hours of content. Electronic music composer Dr. Chelsea Bruno has been composing and releasing electronic music since 2008 under the artist alias Eden Grey. Her father’s work as a piano technician and rebuilder inspired her to compose at an early age and pursue a career in music.
Seven years of lessons in classical piano had a major outcome on her aesthetic. First composing songs on the piano in her teenage years, she began using a USB/MIDI keyboard at age 18 to begin  recording and producing arrangements in Ableton Live. She pursued an undergraduate degree at the University of Miami in visual art, sculpture, performance art, poetry, and literature, and first began to participate in electronic music seminar classes. She graduated in 2008 with a degree in Studio Art.
Chelsea started her masters’ degree in Music Technology at Florida International University in January of 2011, which opened her world to the history of electronic music composers and led to her first patching experiments, creating algorithmic compositions using Max/MSP. During this period she began collaborating with artists and musicians in multidisciplinary art shows at galleries around Miami. Her Masters’ thesis is titled “Vocal Synthesis and Deep Listening.”
She was a recipient of the Presidents’ Innovation Award to attend the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) convention in Anaheim, California in January of 2013, where she first discovered the Eurorack format of modular synthesis. She began working on her own custom Eurorack later that year during her graduate internship with 4MS Company in Portland, Oregon, where she learned to build and play Eurorack synthesizers.
She began her practice-based PhD in Music Composition at Royal Holloway, University of London in September 2014 and was focusing on collaborative and interdisciplinary sound art performance and fixed media projects. While conducting her independent research on modular synthesizers, she performed in London, Cardiff, and throughout Europe, including two MusicTechFest events in Slovenia and Sweden. She also performed live in Paris, SuperBooth 2017 and 2018 in Berlin, and Hamburg in 2019 for the ePhil Electronic Music Series. 
Dr. Bruno demonstrated how to use her custom built modular synthesizer at Synthfest UK in Sheffield in 2016 and 2018. She also established the CV FREQS modular meet / concert event series in London which ran from 2016-2019. In this time, she organized 12 events at different venues in London including the Waterloo House of Vans Skate Park and the Iklectik Art Lab venue in Lower Marsh, central London. She was formally awarded her doctoral degree in June of 2020 with her dissertation titled: “A Portfolio of Compositions Exploring Modular Synthesis in Electronic Music.” 
She is currently teaching music production and regularly releasing electronic music.

Strange But Dance Music #138: Eden Grey

For our next premiere, I'm happy to present to you a track by @The-Exaltics featuring Gerald Donald (aka Rudolph Klorzeiger) - "Das Heise Experiment 2" marks the 6th album of The Exaltics and the 45th release of their, now 11-year-old label, @Solar_One_Music

This fantastic double 10" vinyl release is not going to disappoint anyone who is familiar with the work of @The-Exaltics and their label. Its amazing presentation sets it apart in a big way with full-color artwork (by Godspill), unique packaging and included comic book make this a must-have for any fan of contemporary Electro music. The music contained within this release range from dark experimental Techno, Electro, Ambient and soundtrack-ish nightmares which goes perfectly with the story of the comic. 

The track selected by @DVSNME to premiere for @DarkScienceElectro is the collaboration track between @The-Exaltics and the one and only Rudolph Klorzeiger. This track is one of a handful of standouts on the release, however, this composition really struck me as the single. If not for its obvious collaborative pull, for its 125 BPM speed and Electro-focused nature. The elastic bassline and creepy strings pull you in while a well-crafted lead synth conjures images of private investigators on a distant planet attempting to solve a mystery. 

This record is absolutely not club music which is one of the reasons why I was so excited to get the opportunity to premiere a track from the release. This and much of what SOM has been doing is one of the reasons I started a weekly podcast to begin with. This dark, strange, cold side of Electro music is why I do what I do and I'm very proud to share this with you all. Turn your headphones on and dive into the world of aliens, scientists, and distant galaxies.
