Over the last five years, the band have accumulated more EPs and albums than most bands achieve in several lifetimes, blurring garage rock, lo-fi, anti-folk, prog, psych and pop into one almost indefinable expanse. More than any of these previous releases, In The Best Case… incorporates the songwriting input of James Buzzanca (bass) and Joe Coleby (drums) resulting in epic, tight, bass-rich sonics akin to Mystery Jets, The Wave Pictures, Herman Dune and Arcade Fire. On top of these sit the abstract, everyday lyricism of frontman Reginald Foxwell charting topics ranging from the relative speed of slugs to death to love to the end of the world.

Bubblewrap Collective are proud to announce the forthcoming release of ‘Universe’ by MANDY, the moniker of Mel and Andy Fung. Written and recorded in the lead up to Mel’s passing from cancer in October 2014, it marks her final profound and beautiful musical statement. 

Both MANDY’s members pedigree in the Welsh music scene is well-established, performing with the likes of Derrero, Richard James, Pink Assassin, The MeMeMe’s, No Thee No Ess and many, many more. ‘Universe’ marks a departure both from these previous projects, as well as MANDY’s anarchic approach to music-making itself, demonstrating even greater maturity and songwriting depth. More than this, the album is testament to its creator’s restless creativity. Mel’s close friend, Mared Lenny, says it better than we could:

“The beautiful thing about music making is that it transcends mortality. It outlives us. And for someone with such a distinctive voice and spirit it's comforting to know she'll be on record for all time, forever immortal through her incredible creativity”

MANDY - For Now

Bubblewrap Collective are delighted to announce the forthcoming release of Cardiff twee-pop cultish firebrands Little My's full debut album, 'Beeps'. This marks the tenth anniversary of the band’s formation and is the band's first release since their semi-permanent hiatus in 2010. Favoured by the likes of Huw Stephens and Drowned In Sound among many others, all twelve members of Little My reunited for a one-off live show at Wales Goes Pop 2015 and finally entered the studio to record their one and only album with producer Rob Jones (The Voluntary Butler Scheme, Slow Club) at Giant Wafer Studios in Mid Wales. Within a few months original band members including Harri Davidson (The School), Graf Middleton (Gindrinker, Threatmantics) and Rich Chitty (Little Arrow) as well as Tom Bromley (Los Campesinos!), Rhodri Viney (Ratatosk, Right Hand Left Hand) and Liz Hunt (The School) had created ‘Beeps’ - a blend of re-imagined older tracks and entirely new material.

'Beeps' builds on their previous 10 EPs (Weepop! Records, Bubblewrap Collective, Little Pocket records (US), Businessman Records) that were characterised by joyous pop sensibilities relaying messages of bittersweet agony. The enhanced production takes Davidson's songwriting and deftly sugarcoats it with previously unexplored sonic depth. In doing so, it demonstrates that Little My have grown ever more powerful since their 'retirement'.

Finery is the moniker for the dark, industrial electronica stemming from the collective minds of long-term Cardiff natives Charlie Francis and Jemma Roper. Having met in the early 2000s when Francis mixed a track for Roper’s former band, Sammo Hung, this most recent collaboration builds on their gradually evolved and intuitive working partnership. Combining Francis’ well-renowned skills as a producer (R.E.M., High Llamas, Creation Records) with Roper’s lyrical prowess and unique vocal, Finery conjures images of unsettling dystopian futures lingering behind a benign-looking present.

Little Arrow is the latest musical venture and brainchild of William Hughes, ex singer, guitarist and songwriter of Cardiff Indie-Folk heroes Fredrick Stanley Star.

William spent much of 2010 in the wilderness of West Wales where, inspired by his surroundings, he continuously wrote and recorded songs with friends and family members. The result is this rich and enchanting debut album, which exhibits an accomplished, enigmatic artist at work.

Little Arrow - Boat

Perfect Body formed in Cardiff, early 2017, inspired by the sonic experimentation of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Stereolab, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Their earliest performances took place in Cardiff’s underground, often in practice spaces and house parties: So, by the time Perfect Body emerged on the music scene, they had already sculpted a distinctive sonic identity. The attention gained from their first single, ‘Getting Cold’, saw them supporting the likes of Jen Cloher, Slowcoaches, and The Wytches.

Perfect Body’s sound is characterized by it’s noisy, psychedelic guitar playing; icy, ethereal synthesizers; and a muscular, yet dynamic rhythm section. Their three vocalists, each with their own style and identities, ensure that Perfect Body’s performances are varied and engaging. Perfect Body is a wall of noise, hazing over and obscuring what is, at it’s core, pop-oriented songwriting.

Perfect Body - Fields

Despite being only 19, Zac White has been playing on Cardiff’s live music scene for over five years. Alongside his early days performing with FUR and part of Lily and White, Zac has been honing his own sound based on influences such as Wilco, Loose Fur, Sonic Youth and Broadcast.

His 90s/00s off-kilter indie sound has grown from minimal arrangements with drummer Ethan Hurst into a rollicking, reverb-drenched, garage-psych experience. For his live shows and upcoming EP, accompaniment comes from Tom and Ed Rees of Buzzard, with whom Zac also plays.
