This song is for any and everyone who has served in our nation's military. Over the years, I've had many-a-veteran friend ask me to write a song for the men and women in the battlefield. Having never seen combat, I put it off for a long time. I wanted to wait until I had the right feeling.. the right message. I've listened to the stories you all have shared with me, and I wanted to try and sum up what I think it might be like for you all. I love and cherish each and every one of you, and this is my way of saying THANK YOU.

After just one live take, we added the harmonies and turned it loose. Boy we did not expect the response from everyone on this. Wonderful reason to love music...

I had the honor of recording the banjo track to this tune off the newly released album from "Carolina Still". The album is called "The Color Of Rust", and if you have not heard it, YOU SHOULD. These boys from Carolina are on fire. On the Rusty Knuckles Record Label.

Had the honor of recording some banjo on Kara Clark's newest album coming out this year, and will be available worldwide on Tuesday July 9th.

I had the honor of spending a wonderful week with Husky Burnette late last year with a host of incredible guest here at the house at Rebel Roots Studio. JB and I were recording Husky's latest album, 'Tales from East End Blvd' being released later this year on Rusty Knuckles. Among the folks here that week were Shooter & Misty Jennings, Billy Don Burns, Aaron Rogers, Jake Cox, Adam Jones and Robert Norman from Carolina Still, and his honor Mr. Bandana... All of us recorded this newest song that Husky wrote about Carolina late one night in the parlor of the Studio, and will be on the album as a bonus track. And bonus doesn't even begin to tell the story here. Hope you all enjoy. And keep your eyes out for Husky and Rusty Knuckles for the album availability... Cheers, Buck sends...

Buck Thrailkill BIO: 
Born in Meridian, MS. in 1963. Buck started playing banjo around age 10 studying from his brother Bruce Thrailkill, Avil Linton, and influences of  Carl Jackson and Buck Trent. Buck grew up playing all over the south touring on the Magnolia State Bluegrass Circuit at age 15 with childhood friend and music partner Guitarist James Beau Edwards. Buck plays the ‘Scruggs’ style of finger picking with some newgrass  and oldfolk style licks and songs. Growing up, he played and taught regularly till 1981 when he joined the Army in New Orleans, LA. So pickin' took a back seat to life for a few years till he retired at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, NC in 1997. He has been playing and recording in various venues in the Carolina’s and surrounding areas for a many years now with several different bands and instrumental configurations ranging from Country to Honky-Tonk to Blues to Irish and Hardcore Bluegrass, and even some Rock. 
Currently Buck is the VP of Operations for Rusty Knuckles Music, 		         
Co-Owner (w/ Beverley) and Engineer of Rebel Roots Studios, 					   
Owner and Instructor of Fifth String Studio located in Fayetteville, NC.
