CDMUSIC009 - the next instalment in our electro VA series.

This eclectic collection of tracks showcases the talents of both emerging and established artists, drawing heavy inspiration from the legendary Detroit and Chicago electro scenes.

Our previous release was designed around peak time music and this new pack lends itself to the more experimental and heady side of the genre. If CDMUSIC008 was the party, this is the after-party.

CDMUSIC009 captures the pulsating energy and innovative soundscapes that have defined the genre for decades. Each artist on the compilation brings their unique perspective, blending classic electro elements with contemporary production techniques to create a sonic experience that is both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

With tracks by Greazus, Footclan, label boss Sharkki and a handful of new comers, listeners can expect a journey through the rich tapestry of Detroit & Chicago electro history, paying tribute to the visionaries who paved the way while introducing exciting new voices to the genre.

Originally dropping in late 2023 with a packed launch party at South London’s Planet Wax, ‘Certy’ blends Lutsu’s drill- and grime-inflected production with Razor’s unforgettable bars.

The second remix comes from Groove Chronicles (Noodles) with the help of Dubchild. Responsible for more than his share of garage classics over a 25-year-plus career, Groove Chronicles’ bumping production is the perfect match for Razor’s skippy flow.

INGI (@leshlingi) returns to Scuffed Recordings with four new intricately-crafted club tracks on his Shaker EP.

Icelandic-born, London-based INGI first appeared on Scuffed in 2022 with his Fade EP, an exploration of breaks, percussion and bass weight which saw support from the likes of object blue, Surgeon, Breaka, and Manami.

Since then, INGI has honed his skills as an artist and DJ, as a co-founder of London party and label Elastics, and resident at “your favourite festival’s favourite festival” Floorless. INGI’s sound is a love letter to the London and Manchester scenes that he came up in, flitting between UK club influences but impossible to pin down to one sound alone.

Budalagi is a Producer / DJ from Nairobi, Kenya and a trailblazer in many respects. An artist with a massive range, his sound spans various forms of techno, house and new club sounds such as gqom, drawing influence from african and black culture.

Forging his own path within Nairobi's underground electronic scene, Budalagi has been prolifically releasing tracks for the last 5 years, first turning heads with the gloriously off kilter Kulonkóì - a wonky, raw take on amapiano. His output since then has veered between experimental burners (Mura, from the KMRU curated compilation INSHA), to straight up club bangers like MaBaby and Brine which have received co-signs from the likes of Mathew Herbert, Skin On Skin and Kampire and Jaguar to name a few. He’s also built a cache of secret weapon edits that include flips of Awilo Longomba, Boondocks Gang, Wiz Khalifa and Dismas Nyang'au Onsoti’s Kisii classic One Day Morning. 
   
Budalagi is continually gaining notoriety globally and has built a reputation for uncompromising sets heavily populated by his own productions.
