Isatta Sheriff and Koralle strike again! ‘Will They Try’ is the third single from the upcoming EP ‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’ by the East London MC and the Bologna-based beat smith. Through her purposeful lyrics which Isatta has become renowned for, we witness her poetically reflect on her battles to get to this point in her musical career. 

“This is the most important track on the EP as it addresses the exploitation of Black women in hip hop, and the exploration of hip hop in general. We have started to talk about the countless Black female singers and songwriters in dance and hip hop music who go uncredited in the U.K, and I wanted to extend the conversation to Black female rappers and explore the racial politics and misogynoir connected to this. 
People often ask the same questions regarding women’s position in hip hop, and I ask ‘will they try to understand’ the full scope of the problem and then DO something, because the conversation is stuck and needs to progress.” - Isatta

Produced by Koralle, the soul-filled production combines elements of Jazz and Hip-Hop, with the saxophone colliding perfectly with her lyrics to allow the story to unfold. The artwork was created by Colombian illustrator SagaUno who also did the covers for The Silhouettes Project (2020) and Koralle's Beat Kiosk (2021). 

‘Eat The Kiwi Skin’ will be available digitally and on LP (including instrumental edits of all tracks for the beat lovers out there) on September 23rd.

Isatta’s track record includes collabos with Flying Lotus, Oddisee, Arrested Development and Athletic Progression. She is hosting a radio show, runs her own label Doctored Sound and works as a music writer. Koralle is one of the most in demand European beatmakers with a sound rooted in jazz and boom-bap. Since signing with MPM in 2019, he has released three albums and accumulated more than 30 million streams. The duo’s first collabo ‘Laid Back’ was released in 2021 as part of Koralle’s album Fonografie.

"IL", mon second album vocal, se veut sobre et élégant...à l'image de son titre.
Afin de me concentrer pleinement sur mon interprétation, j'ai confié sa production et sa réalisation à DandyTeru (Ubiquity Records), qui a su lui insuffler une atmosphère hivernale et une couleur néo-classique intemporels. Mes sources d'inspiration demeurent immuables : MC Solaar, Fabe, IAM mais aussi les scènes Trip-Hop de Bristol et HipHop de New York.
J'ai également eu l'immense honneur de travailler avec de talenteux artistes issus de la scène indépendante française : Pumpkin, Trublion, Barrio, Quiet Dawn... et internationale : CL Smooth, Edo G ,Moka Only ou Eternia.
Leur engagement sincère et leur sensibilité transportent l'album vers plus de gravité, sans sacrifier ni fluidité du phrasé, ni limpidité du propos.
Direct et minimaliste, "IL" est à ce jour mon album le plus personnel, celui d'un homme approchant la quarantaine, désireux de s'affranchir de tout code ou posture artificiels.

Lady Paradox and Gadget have actually talked about working together since 2008, when they found a mutual respect for each other’s craft and work ethic over the years. Like many collaborators, it was a case of trying to mutually find the perfect time to commit to the many ideas they had in mind. Now, after a few collaborations via compilations and the odd single release, they have finally managed to conjure up their first collaborative project entitled ‘Mood Swings’. The album nicely blends Jazz infused beats with laid back vocals and a sense of familiarity that leaves us wondering why this project hadn't happened sooner.
