BULLSEYE - VOL.1

Bit of a rollercoaster, but more or less captures the past few months. Frustration, tension, happiness, and a touch of defiance at the close.   Many of the colors in the art are the colors I see in the selection. A lot of these tracks carry sentimental value to me, and I hope you enjoy this edition of my mix series as much as I enjoyed making and sharing it with you! Get fkn silly.

BULLSEYE's first guest mix is brought to you by none other than Mola Mola.

London-based DJ and promoter Mola Mola is one of the faces behind the experimental club night playbody. 

His sets lean heavily towards dubby, dreamy, and percussive sounds while the intensity of his output varies depending on the occasion. 

His BULLSEYE contribution is inspired by the arising colder days and long commutes where the timeless tracks included work as a perfect soundtrack to get lost in thoughts. The mix was recorded on three decks using a flowing layering technique.

BULLSEYE VOL. 4 - Mola Mola

BULLSEYE's fifth edition is brought to you by Iris (they/she). Based in Montréal, the promoter, DJ, and selector extraordinaire runs Underground Love Affair.

Message from Iris:

This was the first mix I recorded in the New Year. I was really excited by the content and wanted to take some risks with it and push the gear that I was using to its limit. There's a lot of experimentation that went into the mixing like utilizing loops in vinyl mode with the pitch slider as a manual delay for example. 
The mix entirely consists of underground selections from South America. 
A lot are independently released and very few have a vinyl release.
That being said, I wanted to showcase just how good these finds were. 
A lot of time went into researching and curating for this mix and I'm really happy to share what I've discovered.

This mix was a bit of a puzzle to decipher and sadly I couldn't include everything I found. There are a lot of different styles I wanted to include and to make them blend I sometimes relied on the feeling and energy they gave me instead of trying to match them by their musical components.
It was a different and challenging way to mix but I'm very satisfied with the final product and I hope you find the same joy in listening to it that I did in recording it.  

This mix was recorded on 2 cdj 350s and an x-one 23:c mixer.

SMUT Press is delighted to present the 40th mix in our series by the incredible duo FAFF. 

The energetic DJ and production duo is made up of Elliott and Orny, serving as one of the most exciting acts to have burst onto the scene within the last few years. Residents of Big Dyke Energy (ldn), their unique and exciting style spans across club music genres, and has earned them spots playing at Field Manuevers, UNFOLD, Fabric, Draaimolen festival & Panorama Bar. FAFF’s production talent is also clear with their most recent releases on Planet Euphorique & Hot Haus Recs, they harness dreamlike synths and unique samples to create a genre-bending sound that can be truly said to be their own.

FAFF were the illustrious headliners of our second party ‘Sex Moves Us Together (S.M.U.T)’ back in November, finishing off an incredible day with a vibrant and frankly legendary mix of hard basslines and sexy samples. We are such huge fans of Elliot and Orny and are so happy to share this mix with you. Enjoy!

Ahead of our event this Saturday, we’re thrilled to release @wes-baggaley’s three-hour live recording from the SET Vault dancefloor. 

Nobody quite does it like Wes Baggaley. Is he a house DJ? A techno DJ? A purveyor of noise, punk, and power electronics? A cult favourite, foul-mouthed commentator on club culture? All this and more, actually. 

Wes has honed his craft over thirty years, culminating in appearances at legendary locations such as Panorama Bar, Robert Johnson, and Glastonbury’s Block9. For our inaugural April event, he played a three hour set from midday — a relatively early slot for an artist of his stature, but one that showcased his protean versatility and penchant for keeping a crowd glued to the dancefloor. By the end of his set, he left us with an elated audience and an assurance that the tone for the remaining 9 hours of our sixteen-hour marathon had well and truly been set.

About the artist:
Born in Belfast but making their name in Manchester, @k.h0lle (they/them) is DJ known for erratic and propulsive sets that skirt the line between technicality and playfulness. Inspired by the rich history of house and techno music, they craft sets that melt faces and tear up dancefloors across the North. They are a @crop.radio resident with a show that aims to push the boundaries of genre with selectors from the north and beyond.

About the mix:
“It’s been a while since I’ve done a more club-focused guest-mix, so I wanted to take this opportunity to show that side of my playing. I like to look at DJing as building a perpetual collage, constantly bringing multiple tracks in an out of the mix for longer stretches of time. This mix is meant to convey the feeling of playing a set to a full room of dancers as we approach that wonderful weirdness at 4AM , locked at a 133.33 BPM groove with the tunes determining the ebb and flow of the energy."
