Only a cold beer and a Nikita Molchanov’s aka Chronic Preview mix can help us to drag our mortal bodies through the endless swamp of everyday life, which is surprisingly called adult life.

Nikita just like the Proteus, sea deity from ancient myths, love the process of transformation. Instead of changing his physical appearance like Proteus, Nikita changes his activities: he’s a resident of System 108 and the Club "Клуб", he’s playing at "Радуга" parties, festivals "Urvakan" in Yerevan and Present Perfect in St. Petersburg, he’s playing in Mutabor and in Berghain (oh geez).

If Nikita himself is Proteus, then his mixes are songs of demonic Sirens (yes, we continue to walk along the crooked path of so-so mythological analogies): they put you into trance with slow, dark, ethnic and percussion-rich motives. We wish you to sail past the cliffs of everyday life listening to today's mix, and not crush into them

1) Полина, почему долгое прослушивание композиций с гипнотичным битом — неотъемлемая часть твоей жизни?
— Музыка — мой проводник в глубины. Она дарует возможность погрузиться в диалог со своей душой, в котором отключаются рацио и слова (дао выраженное — не есть дао) и остаются лишь мыслеформы, чувства и отклик тела на ритмы. Это единственный универсальный язык, который мы можем при желании воспринимать всеобъемлюще и всецело, вне зависимости от принадлежностей к каким-либо языковым группам, временам и событиям, конфессиям и взглядам. И совершенно верно, что эти ритмы гипнотичны и ритуальны. Это и молитва, соединяющая с собой и помогающая уйти в блаженное состояние наблюдателя, и ода охватившему чувству, поднятому из глубин подсознания наружу, и колыбельная для успокоения, и заупокойная, и гимн для начала лучшей жизни, и что угодно ещё. А электронная музыка — это инструмент безграничных возможностей, поэтому её так много в моих плейлистах.

2) Часто ли ты ходишь на вечеринки как посетитель?
— Да, я хожу часто, несколько раз в месяц. На это должно хватать энергии и интереса. Мне удалось связать себя с индустрией, поскольку я признала ее важность для себя: там и мои друзья, и моя телесная терапия, там же я восполняю активность за пропущенные тренировки, социализируюсь, ухожу в себя, ну и главное — прокачиваю свою эмпатию, наблюдательность, чуткость и вкус через встречу с чужими музыкальными экспериментами. Вечеринки для меня это нечто большее, чем просто пространство в клубе с музыкой, публикой и всем сопутствующим. Внимая музыке и выбирая идти в истории исполнителей, доверяя их сюжетам, переключая внимание в тело и открываясь внутреннему диалогу с собой, я получаю возможность танцев среди внутренних садов, помогаю телу оттаивать в толпе с людьми, которые наконец снова становятся одним единым организмом, одной душой мира. 
3) Расскажи про своей первый рейв и ощущение жизни в период, когда он был. Являются ли вечеринки для тебя чем-то вроде квинтэссенции жизни, и если да, то что так сильно манит тебя на танцпол? А если нет, то чем являются?
— Знаешь, твои вопросы столь личного характера, что я буквально на каждом могу зависать во внутренних раздумьях по паре часов. Этот так вообще в самую точку. 
Во время своей первой вечеринки, которая была много жизней назад в Сквоте, я наконец почувствовала причастность. После на вечеринках Рабицы (благо быстро перепрыгнула в вагон с величайшей музыкой) это все развилось до каких-то космических масштабов. Эта общая принадлежность к проживанию музыкального опыта — дань воспоминаниям из снов или прошлых жизней, я просто чувствовала, что происходило что-то очень правильное на танцполе.  Тогда я была далека от контакта со своим телом, не понимала многой музыки, среда казалась мне незнакомой, но я чувствовала какой-то чисто антропологический исследовательский интерес и к тому же всегда выходила с рейвов более заряженная, чем была до этого. Вечеринка может быть концентратом настроения одной из частей общества, к которому добавляются твои внутренние проживания, поэтому определенно вечеринки важная часть моей жизни и в каком-то смысле квинтэссенция её. У Бога нет других уст и рук, кроме как.......

IDA MIX016: CDDOMA

“Clandestine Dancefloors of Almaty" is a selection of tech house, deep/minimal and electro swing tracks that I played in 2017-2019 at queer parties in Vienna, thus giving the Austrian audience an appealing but also quite misleading idea of Almaty’s club scene. 

The choice of music is inspired by the motives of the ancient city of Almaty (aka Al-Maata) and its fabulous nightlife — hidden from the eyes of general public and imbued with sophisticated temptations and forbidden pleasures. This life is radically different from what usually can be seen today in the city's entertainment facilities. It lurks under the surface of commercial dance halls and is invisible from the outside. Now dimming, then igniting, it whirls around the clock from Wednesday to Sunday, spreading through networks of small improvised parties connected with each other. These parties are not only illegal, but also in a certain sense are unreal, each time turning for the participants into a new experience of self-discovery, redefining the boundaries between subjective inside and objective outside. It is an experience that is simultaneously musical, orchestic, bodily, cognitive, mystical, sexual and communicative; it is saturated with the pulsation of life and the scent of euphoretics, completely unknown outside Central Asia. You can get to a party like this only through one of the so called technowitches. When you are ready, such an acquaintance happens by chance and by itself; when you are not, no effort will help you to get inside the “witch circle” - you will just meet the wrong people and get to the usual events for "tourists".

Since today many have already heard about Almaty’s magic parties, but few have an idea what it is about, I decided to slightly open the veil of mystery. In order not to give room to ridiculous rumors and fictions, it is better to put on headphones and let your imagination run wild.
