The end of the UK lockdown sees the release of Bulu’s last club oriented EP for a while as he prepares to focus on the release of his new vocal projects. Three highly energetic, bass heavy stompers which have Bulu’s hallmarks etched into every inch of their being. 
 
Title track “Rude Boy” boasts a sparse and ominous intro with warped vocal cuts that build toward an angry sub heavy drop. Sharp gated percussion and chopped breaks ride on thick distorted bass from beginning to end in this unapologetically aggressive floor shaker. 
 
Backing up the title track we have “Arder”, a finely tuned piece of 160BPM techno, and  finally “Warrior” a 170BPM, sub heavy, percussive roller layered on a bed of Bulu’s automated bloops.

Would you come back?  is an ethereal roller that’s hard to place in terms of genre. Orchestral pads, trance arps and a loose garage beat topped by Bulu’s ghostly vocals make for a versatile tune for the radio, club, or the tube ride to work.

“Hope” sits closer to Bulu’s original drum and bass influenced sounds. A more complex and full vocal arrangement leads to a drop back into Bulu’s roots with a dance floor stomping breakbeat and warped bass line.

The second EP on Bulu’s self imprint Bulu Sound comes as a 3 tracker showing off another side to Bulu’s production.

We start out with a hard hitting but emotionally edged 160BPM number entitled “Think", an arp laden intro builds into a dark dance floor ready vocal layered drop that evolves into a deep and raw melodic heater.

Next up comes “For Real" a 135BPM garage tune that comes with melodic pads, autotune vocals and arps to boot.

Finally there’s “I’ll Always Love You” a spacious 160BPM melodic heater layered with Motown vocals, a classic break and some freaky bloops.

Starting out with the first EP on Bulu’s self release imprint Bulu Sound comes a 3 track EP packed with variation.

Bulu sets off with a dark 130 roller entitled “Pinball", a sparse and spacious intro builds into a dark dance floor ready drop that continues to evolve for the duration of the track.

Next up comes “Shutup" which does exactly what it says on the tin. A hard hitting 160BPM throwback to the heavier side of old school dubstep with a more modern twist.

Finishing up theres a dark 170BPM stepper entitled “Impact". Deep, dark bass lines and sharp drums are the theme as this track morphs and evolves into a series of hard hitting impacts.

Bulu’s debut studio album cuckoo’s nest aims to break barriers. Despite most of Bulu’s releases to date being in the realms of drum and bass this album is not restricted by genre or tempo and shows the extent Bulu's versatility as a producer.

Starting out at 100 BPM and finishing at 200 BPM, cuckoo’s nest is the product of an idea that despite technological advances opening up the doors of creativity these advances have created formulaic genre defined walls from which Bulu attempts to break free.

Rich melodic content, crisp percussion, thick bass lines, finely tuned synth variations, vocal features from renowned D&B MC Visionobi and Burlesque songstress Ruby St James and overall razor sharp production create an immersive listening experience.
