Coalmine Records is pleased for yet another rerelease of ‘Land of the Crooks,’ the collaborative extended play project from the late Sean Price and Melbourne’s go to producer, M-Phazes. 

The project finds the longtime underground legend lending his distinctive, Brownsville-bred grimy vocals over Phazes’ rich tracks full of dramatic pianos, rich bass-lines, swinging horns and hard drums.

The A-side includes the main passes, comprised of four original tracks with the addition of the Small Professor Remix for ”Murdah Type Thinkin (feat. Guilty Simpson).” For this special edition rerelease, Coalmine has also added the Divided Souls Ent. & DJ Pain 1 Remix of “Land of the Crooks,” which was only previously made available on the label’s remix compilation, ‘Remineded,’ which first dropped back in January of 2015.

The B-side includes the instrumental passes of all of the original tracks, as well as the Small Pro Remix, in addition to the “Crookapella,” which includes various scratch stems taken from the EP, in addition to various isolated drum sounds, sound effects, and acapella of the “Land of the Crooks” single.

Additional features on LOTC include Roc Marciano, Billy Danze (of M.O.P.), Maffew Ragazino, Loudmouf Choir and the Dilated Junky, DJ Babu.

Vinyl is manufactured on a blue and green swirled configuration, limited to just 500 Units, and comes complete with the Andres Guzman designed artwork, inspired by the vintage ‘80s movie, ‘Crocodile Dundee.’

Sean Price was Hip-Hop’s Gray Hulk, a barbarian with the pen, with the sharpest of wits. A true Brooklyn legend...riP!

Vic Spencer is down with RUCKDOWN, a crew of MCs curated by the slumberg Sean Price. A few weeks ago, Vic went to Brooklyn to meet with the legend and they both went to Goblin Studios to record Distorted Views, a beat produced by one of Spencer's in house engineers/producers and GrindHouse partner, Doc da Mindbenda. 

"Working with one of my inspirations proves that I'm one step away", Spencer says posted at the GrindHouse with Doc and ILLeet, playing the records that was recorded in New York for Vic's solo album due in the 4th quarter. "First of all, Sean P fucks with Doc beats so it was immediate chemistry in the booth. I fuck with the love that NY has for Chicago MC's such as myself, because P could have worked or chose anybody else from here. But it's ME that he fucks with. Besides all the dope barplay and rugged beats, Price a real genuine dude."

Heroes for Hire is a classic Hip-Hop duo created by MC Ghost of the Machine and Producer DJ Proof. Ghost of the Machine reached out to DJ Proof back in 2016 and they linked up and created a timeless sound. With Ghost of the Machine being a fan of comic books and both DJ Proof and Ghost feeling the responsibility of  keeping the legacy of Hip-Hop alive they came up with the group name, Heroes for Hire.   Ghost of the Machine's music paints a picture of the daily 9-5 struggle, and day to day triumphs. DJ Proof's gritty boom bap beats serve as a catalyst to Ghost's spoken word. Heroes for Hire harness sharp lyricism/production in every song to contradict what is lacking in the current state of this medium of Hip-Hop.
