Textur is proud to present the debut EP of Quiver. His EP ‘Artificial Tranquility’ (TXT-07) commutes between emotional narratives and persistent patterns. The music aims to create a listening experience that invokes both eeriness and familiarity, placed somewhere in between organism and cynicism.

Creating a sonic meeting-space, in which organic and warm timbres from the pipe organ and other acoustic instruments intertwine with the cold and cynical properties of digital sound-design, the EP explores worlds and timbres that are essentially ‘in between’.

The photo-mosaic cover-art has been created by photographer Nicola Hein. Much like the music found on the EP, it has taken form as an abstract piece composed of contrasting yet recognisable pieces of textures and shredded materials.

The EP is the seventh release on Textur, a small non-profit label and music collective rooted in Copenhagen, with an ambition to create a platform for exposure, collaboration and community among artists outside the commercial music scene.

The 94th contribution to our GUESTMIXES series is presented by Acacia Ojea aka AKAZIE, a multimedia artist and DJ born and based in the northwest of Spain. Her activity as a music selector is mostly focused on the post-club scene, with a great interest in discourses close to deconstructed and experimental electronic music. In particular, her mixes harbor a sonic spectrum full of musical nuances with special attention to rhythmic and digital timbre exploration and percussive electronic music,  with hints of the sounds that inhabit or border the piece of land designated as the Iberian Peninsula. So far, her mixes appeared on radio stations such as Offline Meeting Point (Barcelona), Internet Public Radio (México), and Ma3azef.

With a fine arts education and music training in classical piano and traditional Galician percussion, she developed her interest in sonic arts and expanded her studies in electroacoustics and digital audio synthesis while investigating different approaches to sound production and listening practices. Her background has given her the chance to consider the sonic environment a latent stimulus within her processes of assimilation, creation, and artistic research, while also bringing her to value sound as the primary medium to understand and access the world. Over the recent years, her sonic interventions and performance have been hosted by art centers such as Contemporary Art Fair Art Madrid, Centro de Arte Sonoro de Buenos Aires, and Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Vigo in Spain, as well as music festivals among which figure Dantz (Donostia), MMMAD (Madrid), and Sinsal (Galicia).

Today's piece is a 35-minute mixtape featuring cutting-edge tracks crafting a sound journey in the field of contemporary club and experimental, bursting digital electronics. Push the button!

The first half hour is played by the Fausto Mercier mix. His unbridled experimental electronica, while resonating with hardcore digital culture and bouncy rhythmic heaviness, is closely connected to his fascination for natural soundscapes and their fractal nature. In particular, the artist skillfully manages to depict a violent, tense world populated of minuscule yet grand sound variations, intertwined in a web of apparently chaotic textures. This mixtape I did for @ma3azef radio is the final result of several experiments that I was doing this year, mixing and converging medieval and dark Dungeon Synth music with popular Latin American rhythms and also club tracks.

After an adolescence full of immersive RPGs, drawings of elfic warriors and dragons, illustrated cards, numetal, black metal, critical-hits and coloured polygonal dices, I found myself with the idea of remembering those moments and I started this special mixtape by making two universes that I considered completely opposite coexist.

last summer i was invited by Kévin Blinderman to present a mix of Réelle's work at a memorial event
i spent a lot of time going thru the obsessive archive of releases, demos and rips of Réelle's work I've collated from the internet over the last couple years working out key signatures shifts in tone, this mix took me a long time to put together
the mix has been sitting on my harddrive not doing anything since the event waiting for the right time to share it and i dunno that right time's never gonna come is it
so yeah this music means a lot to me, it really changed who i am as a person and what i thought the parameters are for music making
