We have an incredible treat for this edition of OFR, courtesy of IF? Records chief, Sebastian Bayne. This is the last hour of a nearly 8-hour set he recently played in Tbilisi, Georgia. 

Bayne writes: 

"There is a growing techno movement there. What was supposed to be a standard set, turned into a bit of an epic experience.

They wouldn't let me stop.

Those people need more techno."

Quite frankly, this is fucking awesome, and we are very grateful to Sebastian for sharing this special recording with us. Hopefully it finds its way back to some of the folks in that audience. Spread the good word, and enjoy.

Sebastian Bayne [IF? Records]

Sebastian Bayne is a DJ, producer and label owner based in Sydney Australia. His music is fast gaining the attention of his peers being supported by established techno artists like Laurent Garnier, Claude Young, The Advent and Alexi Delano. His music is also favoured by rising stars in the global techno scene namely Bas Mooy, 88uw and Krenzlin. 

IF? Records is Sebastian's most recent project, having taken it over from long time techno cohort Andrez Bergen aka Little Nobody, in 2010. IF? Records was established in Melbourne in 1995, has over 140 releases, and a roster that reads like a who's who of the underground in the last 15 years; 
James Ruskin, Aux 88, Ade Fenton, Si Begg, Dave Angel, Justin Berkovi, K. Alexi Shelby, Steve Stoll, BCR Boys, Justin Robertson, Thomas Heckmann, Jammin’ Unit and Inigo Kennedy, just to name a few.

Previously, Sebastian was best known for the part he played in pioneering techno in Beijing, learning his craft as a resident DJ in the city's most infamous clubs, throwing parties on the Great Wall and touring China and Hong Kong. Also well established in his home town of Sydney, Sebastian 
has played all the best techno parties in last 10 years including Technikal, Beware the Cat, Subservice, Deep as Funk, Lost Baggage and Disconnected.

Sebastian's passion for techno began whilst at university in the UK where he promoted parties and collected vinyl. He has also written many words about electronic music, from feature articles and DJ profiles to gig and music reviews. He was notably editor at 3D World magazine in Sydney during its 
heyday at the end of the 90s. Sebastian has also worked for Point Blank Music College in the UK and Machine Musik in Australia teaching DJing and music production respectively. And still does the odd tutorial at Machine Musik when time allows. His production career began in 2007 with his debut release, on vinyl, reaching number 7 in the German Club Charts. No one was more surprised than him.

A surefire provider of deep, complex weapons for the dance floor and beyond, French-born, Berlin-based artist Kangding Ray has been minting some of the most strikingly unique techno records in recent memory. His body of work for some of the most reputed record labels out there, including Raster Noton, Stroboscopic Artefacts and his own outlet, ara, cuts an introspective path, halfway modular-leaning escapology and beat-driven abstraction. From his background in architecture, his musical approach retains that fondness for structure and the creation, or re-creation of space, both as an actual object and a mental projection. Immerse yourself into KR's minutely designed headspace with this two-hour deep and intimate audio dive.

Close to the original 90s atmospheric techno vibe, her approach shares that taste for spaciousness and sense-awakening uplift, fitting in nicely in the tradition of dub techno whilst opening onto more ambient-oid detours and further leftfield-friendly electronics. Delving in the essence of techno as a tool for emancipation, her mixes traverse a wealth of landscapes and territories, never quite sitting cozy but roaming in search of new forms to embrace, new geometries to integrate. A musical language in constant motion, where expectations wash up against the beauty of revelation.

While growing up in western Canada in the 1990’s, Ryan James Ford was introduced
to electronic music through the local rave and club scene. He began to discover,
study, and collect the music he heard at these parties which consisted of a mix of
Jungle, UK hardcore, Techno, House, IDM, and ambient.
Ryan’s love for early Warp, Metalheads, Metroplex, Tresor, Skam, Downwards, and
other pioneering labels continues to influence his dynamic productions and DJ sets.

Our next guest in the podcast series is Max Dewavrin. Originally from Lille, France, Max’s move to Berlin in 2017 marked a turning point in his musical journey. His DJ sets are best described as raw and classy—delivered with attention to detail, and seamless blends. He draws inspiration from classic labels like Primate Recordings and continues to explore current sounds from imprints like Token and Blueprint.

Beyond techno, Max explores house music through VICE/VERSA, his collaborative project with Ogazón—a reflection of his versatile taste that moves effortlessly between the HERE and THERE, a duality we explore with each of our gatherings.

Born and raised in the industrial suburbs of Turin, Stenny earned recognition in the last decade as both an accomplished producer and DJ. Exploring club culture and sound art, his journey has been one of constant research and reinvention, avoiding trends and the demands of contemporary music consumption while embracing the slower and more deliberate nature of his craft. 

Stenny’s work traverses the full electronic music landscape. Whether embracing new narrative structures and compositional experiments or consolidating the immediacy of a dancefloor-oriented project, each release marks a point of departure. Familiar yet constantly shifting, his sonic language remains identifiable within the experimental techno spectrum but expands beyond genre boundaries. 

Currently based in Munich, Stenny is an Ilian Tape affiliate and a Blitz Club resident. His artistic expression consists mostly of DJ sets and live performances. Fearless in his approach, he ventures through his broad range of musical influences with spontaneity and control, committed to creating an ever-unique and immersive experience.
