In der japanischen Folklore gelten Quallen teils als verwandelte Drachen mit göttlicher Energie. Eine Legende erzählt von einer Qualle, die einst Knochen besaß, bevor ihr als göttliche Strafe die Knochen entzogen wurden. Doch als Strafe sieht die Qualle es nicht. Sie nimmt das, was ihr genommen wurde als Erleichterung wahr. Sie lebt und liebt ihre neue Form und schwebt seit dem durch das Wasser, mühelos und frei zusammen mit ihren Freund:innen und sämtlichen weiteren Meeresbewohner:innen.
