Death Wish

We finally reach our 80th release and with it comes the first hint of what they have planned as we move into 2026.

We are proud to announce DNB Essentials, a New Annual Series Reviving a Lost Part of Drum and
Bass Culture.

With the end of Ram Records came the end of the Andy C’s Nightlife compilation series. And
while `Nightlife` was more than a mix series. It showcased huge amounts of new and forthcoming
music and helped countless listeners discover both new and established artists.

That spirit of curation on albums for us has been missing, and for many, it left a real gap.

DNB Essentials is our take on that legacy. And while we are not thinking we are here to fill in Andy C’s big shoes, It will be an annual project focused on bringing new artists into the label and placing them side by side with long-standing Dirtbox names.

Each volume will feature a guest curator who will assemble the full tracklist and create a full-length, continuous mix of the release.

Supporting artists has always been at the core of what Dirtbox does, and DNB Essentials continues that approach. To start this project, 20 artists will be joining the label roster with music set to roll out over the coming years.

The first curator for the series is label owner, producer and DJ, Lee UHF. He has overseen the track
selection and delivered the mix to launch the project. For collectors, each DNB Essentials release will be available not only digitally but also on limited vinyl and CD runs.

1/ Lee UHF & Noise Souls- "Introspective Thoughts"

The first of three samplers, “Introspective Thoughts” marks several important firsts for the label.
It introduces the DNB Essentials project, and is also the first drum and bass collaboration between
Lee UHF and Noise Souls.

This record is the beginning of an ongoing partnership between the two producers, with a heavy run
of joint music already planned for 2026. Noise Souls, known for his 2025 Tape Pack Project series titled `Sequence`, has been releasing monthly singles this whole year that build toward a full album in 2026. Based in Argentina, Nic has been part of the Dirtbox family since 2022 providing us with  amazing releases past and present.

Lee UHF, the driving force behind Dirtbox and its affiliate labels, has spent 27 years working across the
music industry. He has played a part in several influential brands over the years, but drum and bass is
where his focus lies now. As Dirtbox moves into its seventh year, listeners can expect a strong run of releases from Lee as he has been honing his skills in recent months as well as freeing up time to create an onslaught of music for 2026 that's already waiting in the wings.

Introspective Thoughts blends the trademark rolling style from Noise Souls Sequence work with Lee’s
own gritty, raw, sound, creating a joint piece that feels like a meeting point between the UK and Argentina.

This release marks the start of something new for Dirtbox Recordings, both in the form of the DNB
Essentials project and in the growing collaboration between these two artists. 

Introspective Thoughts is out exclusively on Beatport & Spotify December 19th before a worldwide
release January 2nd.

2 weeks late but better late than never. 50 minute Liquid inspired mix. I have 2 more ready for recording and coming very soon. I want to thank you all again for the massive support shown throughout all of my uploads. I've just hit 3.5k on Vol II and 2.5k on Vol III and it doesn't go amiss, big love to all of you. I'm at the very early stages of learning production, doing tuition under Trex (mac2 recordings) and am mad excited for this year.

Predominately Drum & Bass DJ, Bish A.K.A Jayke Bishop (26) has been blessing the Bristol rave scene for the last 8 years, being heavily influenced by rave music and its culture. Bish started his journey by playing at underground raves and small club nights back in 2012. Bish was originally well known for his energetic mash-up sets and always raised the energy while switching through the genres. Bish often used to enjoy starting sets at 130-140 BPM, integrating Jackin House, Bassline, Electro, UKG, Prog, Breakbeat Techno and sometimes Grime, always switching up and finishing on some heavyweight D'n'B. This genre variation and mastery of crowd energy reading and controlled Bish to playing at bigger events and festivals throughout Europe, such as Boomtown, Glastonbury and Outlook.

Lately, Bish has been tearing out the Drum & Bass, supporting acts such as Chase & Status, Shy FX, Fatboy Slim, AMC, Turno and Nicky Black Market. Bish always likes to keep it fresh, but is well known for his eclectic collection of hard-hitting crowd-pleasers and nostalgic anthems, and often enjoys throwing in the odd classic, while consistently styling it out with the hottest dubplates.

Bristol MC and host extraordinaire, Gardna, has been a staple part of the UK scene for the last few years and has steadily built up a solid reputation for bringing the good vibes, among both his fans and his musical peers. He also commands a strong stage presence at his incendiary live shows, inviting the audience into his world of late nights and big bad sounds. Gardna’s passion for sound system culture is undeniable and his skills as a wordsmith have allowed him to approach the music game from a fresh perspective and truly make an impact on the worldwide underground bass circuit.

The Boom Sound Recordings boss man slaps his inimitable style over a heavy concoction of Dub, Grime and Dancehall. Plus his unique take on the style and fashion of MCing has sparked off collaborations with high-end producers and vocalists, whilst his celebrated live shows have taken him across the globe with their ever growing Boom.
2018 saw the release of the collaborate LP, Pound For Pound by The Nextmen and Gentleman’s Dub Club, where Gardna featured on four tracks alongside a number of A-List vocalists & MCs including Joe Dukie, Hollie Cook, Kiko Bun, Chali 2na and Eva Lazarus. Rudeboy, the lead single from the album, racked up a number of plays across the major BBC Radio platforms, as well as being featured on the prestigious Spotify New Music Friday playlist.
This year heralds the arrival of Gardna’s solo LP, which promises to elevate him further up the ranks of the UK scene. As usual, he brings with him a strong list of associates on the project, with features from the likes of Omar, Hollie Cook, Kiko Bun, MC Fox, Taiwan MC and long time collaborator Eva Lazarus. The album is being produced by Brad Baloo from The Nextmen, as well as beat contributions from Kreed and Mungo’s Hi Fi. The album is scheduled for October release and in the meantime keep an eye out for numerous festival appearances from Gardna across the UK and beyond.’
