The year is 2k21 and we're looking back at the strangest, most disconcerting and disheartening year in the history of electronic dance music, maybe even the history of the entire music industry ever. With no shows, no open dancefloors, no festivals, no clubs and no gatherings the past 12 months took a draining and constraining toll on everyone on the scene and the Hive Audio label crew certainly is no exception, but...

...we survived, we are still here, we re-adjusted, re-evaluated and we are ready to cope with the recent status quo as long as it's needed, with a strong release schedule and big plans in place for 2k21. Yet despite all the madness we, you and all of us dealt with we also happened to release a bunch of tunes throughout the last year, tunes that probably didn't make it to (m)any dancefloors given the circumstances but still are as strong, powerful and most of all uplifting as they used to be when they were released.

So here they are again – or at least a few of them which are what we consider to be the „Best Of 2020“, the tunes that defined the sound of  Hive Audio throughout the year that has passed, the cuts that made us smile, move and shake our bodies in isolation and we hope that they gonna make you shake yours as well - no matter if your in for uplifting House, groove-focused, melodic TechHouse or deep late night (Neo)Trance.

What better way to mark the 20th anniversary of Tronic, his forward-thinking label, than creating a new artist album? Christian Smith stands out as one of the worlds leading exponents of inventive, diverse techno and Stranger Than Paradise continues his enthralling, ever-evolving musical journey with aplomb. The fact that Tronic is one of the Top 5 selling techno labels in the world is a mark of a man who stands for nothing less than pure quality. 
Having previously released benchmark, critically acclaimed LPs Omakase (2013) and Directors Cut (2010) Christian Smith is no stranger to creating supreme, danceoor orientated albums, that explore and showcase his diverse musical style. Both as a DJ and producer, he is always innovative and bold, a leader not a follower. 
Alongside the jaw-dropping excellence of the solo tracks, this new album also features dynamic, inventive collaborations with Wehbba (Christians great friend and regular collaborator), the New York based house music legend Cevin Fisher, long-time studio collaborator John Selway (of Smith &amp; Selway fame), and Christians childhood friend and hip-hop artist Arcturus Ra. 
The Stranger Than Paradise album project will be unveiled rst as four singles released at weekly intervals through the month of October, with the full album release following in the rst week of November on 12 vinyl and digital formats. An album remix pack will be released in December.

The second collaboration by the German wunderkind and his counterpart, "Chicago Cello", a fast-tempo tech house track, enlived by deep basslines, includes a striking cello, the 2011 Flight of the Bumblebee, if you wish. This significant cello has been recorded LIVE by ingenious cello artist Stefanie John. Its distinctive minimalistic sounds and deep melodies fit perfectly to the classical piano instruments following in the second part of the track.

With this release, Eskimo recordings continues to prove it's not afraid to push the boundaries of its own musical spectrum. ‘Together’ and ‘Aftermath’ are two deep house tracks by the male/female production duo Him_Self_Her. Last year’s single Gone Too Long took the charts by storm and gained them a spot in the premier league of house music. Now they are back with two fresh originals on Eskimo Recordings. Both are spaced out, timeless and soulful jams, drenched in a warm and deep atmosphere. Exactly what keeps us going on the dance floor at 5 in the morning.
