What It Takes

Following the gentle yet adventurous spirit of WARM01, we continue our sonic journey with WARM02, the second installment in Warning’s ambient-leaning sub-project Warming. Curated with care and curiosity, the compilation dives deeper into the spectrum of ambient music and other warm sounds of electronic music.

This time we welcome six distinct voices to the fold: Saphileaum, not even noticed, Klex, sleepdial, Ghadimi, and Toxido Mask. Each artist brings a unique take on atmosphere, rhythm, and introspection— serving distant melodies, celestial pads and submerged drones.

Alpenglühen continues to establish itself as a trusted source for forward-thinking ambient techno with its latest vinyl release, introducing Vanertia, the new collaborative alias from Vand and  !nertia. This debut offering fuses the distinctive sonic DNA of both artists into a deeply textured and rhythmically intricate EP.

The record draws heavily from the dub techno tradition, with spacious delay lines and submerged chord stabs setting the tone across all tracks. Yet it’s the subtle interplay between syncopated grooves and classic 4x4 pulse that gives the record its driving energy. The percussion is detailed and organic, riding a bed of carefully sculpted low-end that never overwhelms but always supports the movement.

The result is a hypnotic, immersive listen that balances club functionality with introspective richness.

With Vanertia, Vand and !nertia have laid the groundwork for what promises to be a highly fruitful collaboration

In October 2014, three friends packed a car with synths and drum machines and headed to a barn in the English countryside. Over two days, Kommune, comprising George Thompson (@black-merlin), Kyle Martin, and Jonathan Nash (@jonnynash), pushed their machines into deep, freeform territory. More than a decade later, these recordings resurface as Oast, an EP released via @secondcircle, the club-minded offshoot of Amsterdam’s @music-from-memory.

In 1983, electronic musician Rudolf Langer (Tyndall) and guitarist Peter Preuß teamed up to form a duo by the name of LAPRE (LAnger + PREuß). Aligned with the second generation of the Berlin School, their output is incredibly varied: from repetitive sequencer patterns via playfully cheerful synth pop all the way to atmospheric, hypnotic minor key expanses. It’s all there. By 1984 LAPRE had released two tapes and a 12 inch vinyl. Our compilation presents the most compelling tracks from these releases. All appearing on CD for the very first time.
