Berlin-based label. Burial Soil proudly presents a collaborative electro album initiated by CYRK.
For their album „Freundschaft“ CYRK has collaborated with Steffi, Anthony Rother, Ravn Jonassen, JakoJako, Jensen Interceptor, Alienata, Nite Fleit and David Carretta.
Over the last few years electro has had a massive resurgence.
Since then, a new generation of producers has taken the genre under the microscope, recombining classic tropes and influences in new ways. CYRK is among the list of artists consistently pushing all things electro to new heights with forward thinking, dancefloor shattering and bass-heavy concoctions ready to turn your favorite club dance floor into a sea of spaced-out euphoria.
Early 2020, they decided to reach out to some of their producer friends as well as artists they’ve been admiring for years, to collaborate on tracks. As they see it, the electro scene is a very close-knit community and it felt more than appropriate to support each other this way.
A few emails were sent, a few calls made, and a list of heavy-hitters was assembled to exchange files and jam together remotely or in-person in CYRK’s basement studio: Klakson and Dolly label owner Steffi, Anthony Rother, Burial Soil label buddy Ravn Jonassen, JakoJako, Jensen Interceptor, Alienata, Nite Fleit and French veteran David Carretta.
BPMs are high on the eight tracks of “Freundschaft”, the end result of this collaborative process, incorporating various influences from electro-adjacent styles like italo, EBM or, unsurprisingly, techno.
The beautiful cover art was created by Oliver Sperl.

In the beginning there was the machine. With its constant rhythm it has been able to disassemble the world into its individual parts. But by no means it's only destructive, because its warm breath is able to let new flourish. It's still dark and damp everywhere, but everything that arises, strives into the direction of light.

A few masterminds have put their focus on groundbreaking new music, that created a journey for all those who where willing to follow them into the dark basements and abandoned Warehouses. Reaching together a higher state of consciousness, while celebrating love and humanity.
We think nowadays it's still important to not forget, where Techno came from, it's punk, it's political, it's machine music for human hearts. 
Therefor we will invite great artists, which are deeply rooted in Techno history, but also amazing new talents who stand out thru music and not their self-marketing.

With Carbonisation they’ve created a shuffling and floating essence, that’s perfect to lead you into other spheres. In Recrystalization, sounds move and evolve around a straight pounding beat and burst repeatedly into stunning breaks.

On Top Californian Techno heavyweight Drumcell adds his own touch, by remixing Carbonisation, needless to say, it’s a peak time Techno banger. Ravn Jonassen provides the second remix, he adds a more trippy feeling to Recrystalization with some insane synthesizer action.

On their new 12“, Obsession EP, Berlin-based duo CYRK expand on their unique permutation of sci-fi-inspired electro. The title track is another fine example of the brooding and cinematic atmosphere they have championed lately. Recalibration ups the ante significantly. It’s a fast-paced and tense dance floor smasher replete with screams and powerful howls by Berlin-based singer Sunru. In his remix, veteran producer The Hacker slows down the tempo and turns the frantic original into a slow-chugging lesson in new beat intensity. DJ LOUI on the other hand, strips away the layers of pads and focuses on the bass line of Obsession, turning it into a bare-bones rhythm track with an 80s twist.

The actual crisis is the worst possible case scenario for independent artists, it feels that our profession has suddenly kind of stopped existing. 
We are all looking back in melancholy and see the great parties we’ve had together, listened to amazing electronic music and met interesting, likeminded people. We’ve lost our save spaces where most of us got the chance for just being themselves. 
But quintessentially Artists digest the world around them into music, paintings, videos and all kind of interpretative reality. Thru this, some of us might have found their own little Utopia they are following. 
But this is not the time to bury it, if you are a true artist there’s no other way than keeping on, because you are doing this only for yourself.
