Joe Koshin makes his debut on Buried Records with his new EP ‘Inside’. Originally from Yorkshire, Joe Koshin’s introduction to dance music was forged in the North-east’s lively dance scene. This is where the sounds of Dubstep and Drum & Bass first piqued his interest in Electronic music. Currently based in London, he has developed his style in the renowned dance culture of the capital. As his style developed, flavours of Breakbeat, Electro and Garage began to feature more prominently in his musical output. Rinse FM, Balamii, Planetaria Soundsystem, Childsplay and 199 have all supported Koshin’s recent releases.

With all three tracks from the album being made during the pandemic, eerie tones can be heard throughout the EP reflecting the struggles we have all faced recently. Joe said ‘I got myself into a pretty deep creative rut, and my output was at a real low'. With this lack of motivation, he struggled to make time for music and even considered throwing in the towel.

‘Inside’ was the first track that shifted his musical outlook and brought back the creative spark missing over those difficult months. The opening track brings together floaty vocals, raw Breakbeat and unapologetic bass that injects energy into the EP from the get-go. ‘There’s Nothing’ pays homage to the Brazilian music Joe discovered during the lockdown. Clever sampling fuses this cultural influence with his fierce sound seamlessly and is the hidden gem within this release. The final track ‘Storm Dub’ was initially crafted to a minimal old school 2-step sound but with time evolved into what Joe describes as a ‘Garage-meets-Ghetto’ hybrid.

After temporarily adjusting to life indoors, ‘Inside’ offers a glimpse to the light at the end of the tunnel, when club doors reopen and movement can be seen on dance floors once more.

Junior Simba & Seth Chohan bring us a soulful cut with groovy drum work and hints of jazz. The track is named after the Leeds area which holds a special place in the hearts of both producers. It features on a compilation by Isle of Man DJ PMIX.

PMIX have been releasing music for the last few years primarily on their Soundcloud, supporting up-and-coming producers by premiering their tracks there and sharing them with an ever-growing community. If you’re after House/ Disco edits, minimal and anything in-between this is the album for you.

Jordan “Van Damn” Van Wyness is kicking off Buried's new 'Single Series' with his track 'Kalvin Clein'...

Van Damn, originally from Arbroath, a small fishing town, has been instrumental in curating some of the most renowned parties in northern Scotland for almost a decade. Along with Ethan Bell and Nairn Spink, he created the club brand "All Good," and has supported the biggest names in global dance music, such as Skream, Ben Hemsley, Patrick Topping, Ewan McVicar, LF system, Peggy Gou, and Groove Armada. Van Damn has been invited to DJ at some of Scotland's most prolific festivals and clubs, including FLY Festival, Otherlands, Outdores, and Sub Club, Sneaky Pete's, and Unit 51, in addition to his successful promotional enterprises.

While building an online brand, Van Damn honed his production skills and received frequent radio plays on Radio 1 from Sarah Story (Future Dance) and Jaguar (BBC Introducing Dance). 

'Kalvin Clein' is the first release in Buried's new 'Single Series,' showcasing Van Damn's understanding of the UK dance scene, featuring a weighty bassline and slamming drums that are ready to hit any dance floor. The track has already received support from Ewan McVicar, who premiered it during his 'Radio 1 Residency'.

Buried's 'single series' receives a breath of fresh air with Hachine's innovative sound...

Hachine is an electronic music producer and DJ hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire. He left a career to follow his passion in music and has spent the past 3 years focussing and developing his sound. His music is deeply informed by the UK underground music scene and the dance music of the mid to late 90’s.

Hachine's recent work includes releases on Zone Focus, a cosmic breakbeat track called "Infinity" shortly followed by “No Free Love” with Roller Blaster Records, on their VA "Rollerfunk". The Rollerblaster release has been featured on Beatport's homepage sitting at #11 on both their "Hype Picks: House" and "Hype Picks: Homepage" lists.

"Stay" is an exhilarating new single that signifies the beginning of several releases with Buried Records. The record label, helmed by artist Dainty and graphic designer Brenden Dennis, has previously showcased a darker tone, making this track one of the first releases with a brighter garage influence on their label.

Combining the lively energy of garage with the opulent textures of orchestral arrangements, the track incorporates elements of many different genres. From the very beginning, the listeners are transported into a vibrant world of melodies and pulsating rhythms, anchored by a resounding baseline. "Stay" sets a standard for their upcoming releases with Buried Records, displaying a fusion of various styles.

Dainty kicked off 2023 in style by signing with the renowned NYC label Nervous Records, securing Radio 1's coveted 'Peak Time Mix' and making a memorable debut at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee. Based in Leeds but hailing from Nottingham, the producer known as Dainty (Joseph Curtis) deftly blends intense synths, lush melodies and addictive drum patterns, creating rousing moments of euphoria that mark his strong presence on the UK dance scene. Dainty's sensational 'Sound of the Summer' mix was honoured as the 'Mix of the Year' for 2022 by BBC Introducing West Yorkshire. Notably, Junior Simba handpicked Dainty as his 'Artist of the Year'.

‘One’ is a sun-drenched disco edit, making it the perfect soundtrack for summer’s send off. The release serves as a prime example of Dainty’s effortless use of infectious melodies and innate understanding of what gets a dance floor moving.

Extra Spicy’s third various artist's compilation, XTR003, is an all-Australian affair. This nine-track release features some of our favourite local producers and covers the full spectrum of bass music, from classic purist flavours to mutant genre cross-pollinations. 

Heavy, chopped-up breaks and massive bass stabs pervade 99 Nissan Patrol’s Ruffla, Mashup from Akul, and label owner Mincy’s Gnome Home. 

Fans of more stripped-down flavours will want to make a beeline for the UKG nostalgia of Why Didn’t You Mention It? by Myledo and Krypsis’ dark garage groove LoFi Rider. 

The final portion of the compilation raises the tempo. DJ SUNROOF gives a respectful nod to the past on Break The Mold, a jungle banger chock full of mangled breakbeats. 

Hardcore energy is merged with chaotic footwork sample manipulation and ghetto tech attitude on Say My Name from Floor Twenty, while UNKLE SYD channels 1992 warehouse energy on Sydtopia. End User License Agreement rounds out proceedings with a heady, dubwise roller that focuses on spacious echoes and big sub-bass. 

XTR003 proves that you don’t need to look beyond Australia’s backyard for big talent.
