From Economics student in London to Café Mambo’s newest resident, it’s been a pretty crazy summer for Polish DJ Jan Jechna. With national radio slots and gigs at Warsaw’s infamous 1500 Do Wynajecia under his belt, Hyena brought plenty of experience to the table at burn residency. He left an impression with his freeform style of house and techno, which is why he’s now part of the Café Mambo crew.

“Why?” is the Warsaw native’s debut production, which burn Records are especially proud to announce. It’s a solid first effort from Hyena full of anthemic potential: groovy, banging house right on form with the retro revival that’s sweeping through the UK right now. Hooky samples, some old favourite synth stabs together with sound bites and a pounding bassline sets off “Why?” as one serious summer hit contender.

Serbia’s Lea Dobricic just had it: the drive, the dedication and most importantly the skills to match. Her style and confidence behind the decks made her a strong contestant at burn residency. She won over the judges on day one, and proved a hit with the Elrow crowd in the final round of the competition. Now she’s playing with some of the biggest names in dance music from her summer home at Privilege. It may be the biggest club in the world, but there’s no fear in Lea’s eyes. This fierce young force has them fixed on the top.

Lea has already shown a knack for remixes with releases out on Bosphorous Underground recordings, Butane, Killing Machine and No-Logic. Now comes “Disconnect It” her dark, tough techno workout for burn Records. Tipping her hat to the 90’s here “Disconnect It” is a deep and bassy roller charged with hypnotic charm. This one’s definitely for those long, hot nights and dancing til dawn.

Thomas Ferrare, AKA Tommy Kid, wanted to shake things up. With 10 years of DJing behind him and a distinctly un-Ibiza sound the Parisian stood out a mile at burn residency, catching the attention of Sankey’s owner David in particular. But it was his production prowess that really impressed. He cinched his place in the final after submitting one of the most original remixes for the Maceo Plex challenge, earning praise from the deep house legend himself.

“Challenger” is his first recording for burn Records, which sees Tommy turn UK funky into a sleek yet wonderfully wonky 4/4 anthem. In 2011 he made his production debut on UK label Sounds of Sumo. Full of brazen basslines, squelchy bass and soaked-through with soundsystem sentiment ‘East Street EP’ made its intentions crystal clear. Two years later and much of the boisterousness has left Tommy Kid’s sound. “Challenger” instead marries this bright upstart’s passion for bass music with just a hint of Ibiza chic to deliver something truly unique and irresistibly danceable – both on and off the infamous party Isle.

After months of listening to every single one of the Plastikman 'Ask Yourself' Remix Competition entries, Richie Hawtin has picked his winner and it's Oblique Industries, aka Ryan Schofield, from Melbourne, Australia. Congratulations, dude!

Brought to you in association with <a href="http://residentadvisor.net">Resident Advisor</a>, the track up for transformation was from 2003's Closer, the album's eight-minute opener, 'Ask Yourself'. We saw some incredible creativity, with entrants from across the globe morphing the 18 sound parts to produce a huge range of styles and sounds. Massive shout out to everyone who entered!
