City Wide Krew (named because of the MC’s homes in Melbourne and Geelong) overcame geographical distance through a mutual love of listening to and making hip hop music. Long trips down the Geelong freeway become a regular fixture as the group embarked on the embryonic stages of their recorded career, sparking what would soon become a lifelong love of writing and performing hip hop music. Inspired by the early music of Lyrical Commission, Bias B and Hilltop Hoods, but schooled on a heavy blend of Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits and Black Sabbath, City Wide Krew create music that is grounded in traditional hip hop sensibility, but flecked with the divergence of Rock n Roll, Soul and Reggae. The result in a sound that is musically intricate, yet universally accessible

Burn Down Babylon is Melbourne's own new urban beat night. The motive is simple, to bring together a collective of genres - We represent Reggae, Hip Hop, and some of Melbourne's best mash up DJ's and well established Drum and Bass DJ's. This new event is sure to deliver an absolute banger of a night, brought to you and designed by urban beatheads for urban beatheads. The idea behind Burn Down Babylon is to run a designated night for the real urban heads that enjoy all types of music starting with local hip hop acts and mash up Dj's, moving through to some deep rolling bass for a night that will deliver a pure beat-head fix on the reg. With established Drum and Bass Dj's such as Finna and Safire and the Dambusters in the Mix this night will turn from urban Hip Hop into a Drum and Bass banger. Burn Down Babylon will be run once every two months with events held at different venues and each gig featuring new local and international acts. This project is about building the BDB community, a place where we bring together a collaborative approach to music, art and urban culture. Each party event will feature a limited release of art, T-shirts, hoodies and hats designed by local and international artists.
