This mix is so special for so many reasons. First off, it was released as the opener for our stage at the first Virtual Burning man, SPARKY, which shares the name of the amazing artcar we, Camp @square_one_1 bring to the playa every year. It was so special to bring it in this medium and expand our artist reach to all over the world. Sharing our first stage with 35 incredible artists was a real honor.

You'll also see that I'm sitting in this picture. I did this whole mix cross-legged as I had a broken foot. The universe put me on timeout right before the whole world did the same. This mix represents what was going on in my soul when I paused, reflected, and sat with myself, looking deeply inward. 

Thank you so much to @justemmaoffical for putting this together to make it happen in our beauful home in Tulum. Maiz Rojo is truly a magical place on this earth.

Miss Conception, aka Sara Nicole Glass Musician, Performer, Volunteer, BWB Burner! With Kate Robinson from Tenderloin Community Benefit District, San Francisco Meet MissConception aka Sara Nicole Glass who is an amazing musician, performer, and volunteer for Burners Without Borders. Miss Conception produced a community-empowering event supporting local artists as well as raising funds for Burners Without Borders in late December 2023. Funds were donated to the Tenderloin Community Benefit District, a non profit in San Francisco supporting the families in the Tenderloin. Lastly, we talk about her other burner volunteer experiences and how they have enriched her life -specifically volunteering at unSCruz put on by Santa Cruz Regional burners happening in the south Bay the first weekend of May and the recent Burnal Equinox event on March 9 at Public Works put on by San Francisco Community Events Team. So much to learn from MissConception!  Burners Without Borders, San Francisco Chapter, is doing some great things to empower the community around the Tenderloin in San Francisco. Joining us is Kate Robinson who talks to us about projects in the Tenderloin for 2024 and how you can get involved. Then talk about how others who are not local to SF can find out about their own community chapters of Burners Without Borders. There’s plenty of philanthropy for burners to get involved in and there are lots of chapters all over the world. ​​The MISSION of Burners Without Borders: BWB promotes activities around the globe that support a community's inherent capacity to thrive by encouraging innovative approaches to disaster relief and grassroots initiatives that make a positive impact. Please note that Sara is a BWB volunteer and does not represent the entire BWB chapter or program.  The BWB website is intended to be the mouthpiece for this community’s efforts as well as a catalyst for inspiring new ideas. Regeneration Rising - Midtempo/Chill Mix 2020

Burners Without Borders (BWB) is a community organization within the Burning Man Project that works in disaster relief and civic works projects in communities around the world. From building composting toilets at Standing Rock, to permaculture action at Hoover Elementary in West Oakland, to building a Youth Center in the Calais refugee camp, BWB is Burning Man at its finest.

Christopher Breedlove is the Director of Civic Activation at the Burning Man Project where he oversees the Burners Without Borders, Regional Network, and Civic Arts programs. Hailing from Chicago, he is an also an artist, educator, and an inspiring public speaker. 

On the show we talk about Hurricane Katrina and the origin of BWB. We get into the technicalities of how a theme camp became an NGO. We talk about Standing Rock, Calais, and Uhuru Land, a refugee camp in Uganda. We discuss the Burning Man Sustainability Road Map for 2030 and an initiative to create an asset map for Burning Man infrastructure around the world. The through line of this conversation is the value of service: how to get involved, how to support each other, and how not to burn out. Above all, how can we weave service into our lives for the betterment of our communities, our friends, and our own mental health?

Today’s episode is dedicated in loving memory to Affinity Mingle. Affinity, was a beloved member of the Burning Man community, a dear friend, and a huge supporter of this podcast. It is fitting that an episode about service would be dedicated to Affinity, as she was so committed to volunteerism that Burning Man’s first award for volunteers was named after her and awarded to her at the Artumnal Gathering in 2012. Thank for for your wonderful big heart, mentorship and inspiration Affinity. We all miss you deeply.
