This is my remix of Camilla Pisani's new single "Techno Drama", which Camilla just released earlier last month. Check out Camilla's original track here on SoundCloud @camilla-pisani. 

Camilla's original track is great, with beautiful ambient synth textures and a beat that goes a bit on a secondary plan, before disappearing into the ambient coda of the track.

My remix pushes the track in a more decise dancefloor direction, while still playing, overdubbing and manipulating the original synth tracks created by Camilla. I also brought in a pulsing and "wormholing" beat, and I slapped it upfront, while pushing the tempo to 136 bpm from the original 130.

I also experimented at various speed before getting to this final version, and I have to say that another tempo that was also sounding great, but with a different loops and overlays setup, was 142 bpm. Maybe one day I'll release it as a "more drama" version. =)

Camilla Pisani - Techno Drama (Burningmax No Drama Remix)

Check out on MixCloud RASTA BEATS; my long awaited tribute to Rasta culture. A long DJ mix that chase Rastafari culture in a journey across beats of so many different musical genres, all dancefloor-oriented. 

Rasta Beats is just a mix, even if dropped several additional loops here and there - but I really wanted the tribute to be more personal, so I decided to create a dedicated opening track. 

I have been mixing and remixing for days, but I was going in the wrong direction. I tried remixing Bill Oswell’s remix of Bob Marley’s Rebel Music giving it a techno edge, or other Rastafari vocal samples on breakbeats and drum’n’bass, but I wasn’t satisfied. 

Then, while driving, my iTunes randomly picked up a great track from UK producer BECAUSE OF ART, who I been following for years. The track is Astral Travel, a great techno dub track from his 2019 EP "Astral". Astral Travel is hypnotic enough to be dub, but also has an active beat that gives the track a warehouse edge with an acid crescendo. That was it - I really didn't do much for my remix. I just twitched and twisted the track until I radically slowed it down and also radically changed the key. Then I added some delays, reverbs and stuff, and a Rastafari vocal samples. I initially thought about Bob Marley, Peter Tosh or Buju Banton interviews.

But again the chance played a big role for this track. While searching on YouTube, I accidentally bumped into this little treasure, the Rastafari Wisdom video, published more than 7 years ago by Duke Ngozi, a regular Jamaican dude, not a youtuber. The guy only has a couple of videos and playlists on his channel, but he managed to record some pearls of Rastafari wisdom from two old local rasta fellas, and it’s gold. Because Of Art - Astral Travel (Burningmax Rastafari Bootleg Dub)

Here is a new track I produced last month, it’s called “Birds + Trains (5.30AM Sunrise Field Rec)”. 

The title kind of says it all. It was 5.30AM, sunrise time, I was doing some field recording of quiet morning birds when it all suddenly got disrupted by the passage of the fist early morning trains. i didn’t give up, so I manipulated and remixed the samples anyway, and the result is a deep dark hypnotic track that wanders somewhere between experimental ambient noise and a distant dark rave. I love it. =)

The original base image for the cover art was AI generated, but… after spending quite a bit of time crafting the perfect prompt to have (in brief) a “bullet train flying in the sky at sunrise and crashing into a flock of birds bla bla bla”, and trying several generative AI tools and all kind of filters, I ended up designing the cover myself on Photoshop as usual.

UPDATE (AUG 18, 2023)

Less than 48 hours after publishing “Everything Is Music”, a rectification is needed here… For as much as I’d love to consider “Everything Is Music” as a track of mine – there’s my voice on it, and I also made the Detroit/Chicago-inspired driving beats – truth is that the song is built around a loop originating from a track on @laurent-garnier Laurent Garnier’s last album.

It doesn’t matter that many artists create (and sell) “new music” by stealing a sample (or more) from other artists. Not my style, so I need to rectify this, relabelling the track from “Burningmax Production” to “Burningmax Remix”, and giving full attribution and credits, as it is the right thing to do. “Everything Is Music” is one of those remixes that totally change the nature of the original track, in this case also the lyrics. Yet, still falls into the remix category, for the use of that loop.

So, forget “Burningmax – Everything Is Music”, and welcome “Laurent Garnier – Multiple Tributes (Burningmax Everything Is Music Rework)”. The track is still the same, but I updated the cover, of course… Thank you Laurent for being a constant source of inspiration!

Here is my latest track, and this time is personal! =)
Meaning, first time I put my voice in a mix, and I also went kind of personal with the lyrics - or let's just call it the voice track. Which, by the way, has been recorded on my cell phone, and lacks some serious post-production, so let' put the track public as demo. Yes is a demo, still very danceable. Laurent Garnier - Multiple Tributes [Burningmax Everything Is Music Rework]

I don't know how to call this one - it's a jam session on Traktor Remix Decks, playing loops from Spektre + Tom Laws (Whores and Hangovers), M.A.N.D.Y. (Twister Sister), Spartaque (Razor) and Pig + Dan (Mr. Mojo Man). Now, this is not a remix of any of these tracks, probably more a mash-up, but the jam definitely give birth to a totally new 15 minutes (spooky) rave ride. Are you ready to take it on the dancefloor? Note: do not listen to this track if you are tripping badly....

Spooky Rave

Bedrock's Ambient Remix of Humate's 3.2 is a classic massive chilled tune from 90's Ibiza "balearic" club culture. I recently bumped into this track a couple of times in the same day, so I decided to "drop it" in a recent chillout mix, by mashing it up with other three tracks: "The Divine" by Aphrohead, "Philharmonic (Definition Remix)" by Alex Flatner & Lopazz, and "Manaka" by Canna. I loved the outcome, so I've decided to work on this track a bit more, throwing in additional layers of beats and sounds using MASCHINE's loop base - all mashed up and remixed on Traktor S4. The result is a groovier version of 3.2 - introducing "Three Point Three (Infinite Burningmax Rework)". Enjoy!

Three Point Three (Burningmax Infinite Rework)

This Burningmax remix of Laurent Garnier's classic "It's Just Muzik" is part of a series of "Jinglex" created by Burningmax for Deli Radio https://www.deliradio.it as a cross-project for Burningmax's podcast WTF / Wonderful Techno Frequencies, on air worldwide every Thursday 9PM-11PM CET on https://www.deliradio.it.

Burningmax Jinglex for Deli Radio | WTF 01 feat. PiouPiou (Laurent Garnier - It's Just Muzik)

Another one of my live DJ sets at Nowhere 2019: this one was on Saturday night, for the closing party of the Garden of Joy, with their mighty Funktion One sound system, and a constant crowded dancefloor. Loved it.

I played a 3 hours DJ set, and I decided to dedicate the first half of it to one of my favorite underground techno artist and label, and also a friend and a fellow member of the Garden of Joy family: the French techno producer Philippe Petit, and the two record labels of which Philippe is patron and one of the most prolific contributors, Knotweed Records and DMT – Decision Making Theory. The Knotweed / DMT Tribute lasted for more than half an hour, before I moved on towards the closing of the set with a good bang of techno dance. This Dj set is the recording of the tribute part, and ends up mixed into a Boris Brejcha track.

Live Nowhere 2019 | Garden of Joy Closing | Knotweed / DMT Records Tribute

This is a remix I did on the fly (just one direct take) as it was a last minute birthday present to a great friend of mine who really loves this tune from the german producer Phonique. With the complicity of her partner, the Rome-based artist Aladin (www.instagram.com/aladin), who dropped a deep mystical spoken words track and also designed the cover of the remix. On my side, I mashed up two different versions of "Vincent Price" (the original version from 2012 and the remix feat. Lazarusman from 2017), added a few loops, and voilà - le remix c'est fait! I hope you like it.  This is not a commercial release, and copyright is still to be attributed to the original author and its record label.
