Hey! We finally got off our lazy asses and uploaded our last episode. 

Back when we first started we would sometimes do three movies an episode and spend more time BSing than talking about the movies. So, we decided to start taking movies from those episodes, that we feel didn't get the attention that they deserved, and revisiting them.

The first one is Fulci's 1980 release CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD (Gates of Hell). This was only briefly touched on in an earlier episode and it 100% deserves more attention.

Episode 78 | GATES OF HELL (Revisited)

We had a technical difficulty so, the audio is a little sub-par on this recording but, it's not horrible.

We are back and delving into the Mattei & Fragasso 1980 virus zombie flick HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD (Virus, Zombie Inferno, Zombie Creeping Flesh, Dusk of the Dead, and many many more). If you dig al the spaghetti zombie/cannibal flicks that were popping out of Italy in the '80s, you should already be a fan of this movie.

We go over some bands that are absolutely worth checking out, Steve gives a Cheers run down, and we even touch on the finer points of Howard the Duck.

Episode 79 | HELL OF THE LIVING DEAD

We are back talking about the 1989 low budget, Midwest zombie flick THE DEAD NEXTDOOR. Filmed in Akron, Ohio, and banked rolled by Sam Raimi, this shot on super8 movie is worth checking out.

It is October and we couldn't be more stoked here at the Burt Offerings manor. Kicking the best season off with Tobe Hooper's 1981 carnival catastrophe THE FUNHOUSE.

We also touch on which Michael Myers mask was the worst, and the joys of 80s and 90s cable.

Episode 81 | THE FUNHOUSE

Halloween is almost upon us. Instead of doing the normal Halloween themed movie, this year we thought we would talk about one of the early films inspired by NOTLD, which has nothing but atmosphere and spooky vibes; Amando de Ossorio's 1972 classic TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD.

Although, this was dubbed and released in North America, it is definitely better to avoid that version and find the original Spanish release. We touch on the many reasons why in this episode.

We also give a run down of movies we've been watching, bands we've been jamming, and recent activities in the Burnt Offerings camp. And, if you haven't heard, ACID WITCH has a new release! Go scoop that shit up.

Episode 82 | TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD

This week we are talking about one of the seminal Joe D'Amato films; his 1980 release ANTHROPOPHAGUS (The Grim Reaper, The Beast, Man-Eater, The Grim Ripper, Antropophagus). This one ranks high on our list of Italian horror, with good reason.

We are back with our first guest in over 2 years! Our long time friend Zach Gibson, drummer for the relentless grind band SHIT LIFE, as well as past and current drummer for a ridiculous amount of other bands, is joining us to talk about arguably one of the most controversial movies released; A SERBIAN FILM.

Love it or hate it, the fact that this movie is still able to piss off non-horror fans, as well as horror fans, 11 years after it's release is kind of impressive.  And, there is no one better to talk about this slice of cinema with us than one of it's bigger proponents.

Life got flipped turned upside down so, we took a little extended hiatus. Probably should have uploaded the episode before we did that.

Anyway, we are back talking about the 1980 film FADE TO BLACK. We also touch on other movies and bands we have been digging that would be worth checking out, as well.

Our four month hiatus has come to an end and we are celebrating by talking about the best super 8 film ever made; Leif Jonker's DARKNESS! It is criminal that this is the only movie Leif made. You would be hard-pressed to find a more splatter filled vampire movie!

It is October and we are joined by Detroit's heavy metal miscreants ACID WITCH to talk about their freshly released album ROT AMONG US! We've had them on separately but, this is the first time getting the masterminds behind the witch, Slasher Dave and Tim Shagrat, on together. 

Aside from the new album we also bounce around talking about past releases, band history, a little on Detroit ghost stories and true crime, as well as what makes a good horror movie shirt and, there are no exceptions!

Episode 88 | ACID WITCH

This episode we are joined by the husband and wife team of INDEPENDENT AMERICAN PICTURES, Anthony Moran & Rebecca Solano, to talk about their newest splatter filled horror film LET US IN!

This movie is what independent low budget film making is all about. It features some familiar faces from the Detroit punk and metal scene, as well as amazing FX work by local favorite James Bell.

Tune in and hear some great conversations as we chop it up with two true grit film makers. And, if you are in the Detroit area, be sure to catch the premiere screening at the UFO Factory on Saturday, October 15th!

In December, a life changing event happened which delayed this episode from being uploaded until now. But, here it is, and we are talking about the ever gritty, 1984 release, COMBAT SHOCK. Probably one of the most straight forward and depression movies that Troma has ever released.

Our 5 month hiatus is over and we are talking about the 1988 home invasion/slasher/monster movie/revenge film GROTESQUE starring Linda Blair, Donna Wilkes, and Tab Hunter. This bad boy can fit so many genres.

What do you get when Joe D'Amato and George Eastman team back up after ANTHROPOPHAGUS to make an American style slasher? The masterpiece that is ABSURD (81). We are marking our return by talking about this absolute classic of Italian cinema. We also hit you with some bands to checkout, suggestions on what to watch so you don't have to think, and a summer time announcement.

Who says you need buckets of blood and gratuitous nudity for a slasher to be good? Well, a lot of people, actually. But, they are wrong! We are back and talking about the 1982, often over looked, slasher THE HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW. This movie is an example of the right way to pull inspiration from other movies without blatantly ripping them off.

We are taking it back to '89 talking about one of the best splatter films to come out of Germany. Olaf Ittenbach's BLAST PAST. When Olaf released this SOV gem, he showed just what could be done with this genre.

We are back from our 3 week hiatus. While we were away caught some shows and watched some movies; business as usual. This week we discuss Joe D'Amato's 1979 release BURIED ALIVE aka BUIO OMEGA, BLUE HOLOCAUST, BEYOND THE DARKNESS. This is in Steve's top 10 list so be sure to tune in while enjoying a nice acid bath.

We are back and talking about the 1980, sleazy, NY masterpiece MANIAC. Just like many of the films that came out around this time, MANIAC dealt with a lot of controversy upon its release. And, we touch on close to all of them.

Steve lists his top 5 albums of 2018 and Jared gives you some Japanese punk that you should check out.

This episode we will be talking about the 1974 slice of Spanish celluloid LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE aka THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE, BREAKFAST AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE, DON'T OPEN THE WINDOW, ZOMBI 3 - DA DOVE VIENI?, DO NOT PROFANE THE SLEEP OF THE DEAD, and about 10 other names.

We also have a good amount of bands that you should check out. Also, this might be the first episode were Jared does not mention a single punk band.

Episode 44 | LET SLEEPING CORPSES LIE

It's 2020 and we are are talking about another Italian film. This time around it is Fulci's 1990 meta horror A CAT IN THE BRAIN. There are a lot of mixed reviews about this one. And, even though we might have been a little too drunk to break down everything we could in this movie, we are both big fans of it.

So, get on board the Perversion and lets go for a ride.

We are taking it back to 1973 to talk about the Rodger Watkins THE LAST HOUSE ON DEAD END STREET (The Fun House, Cuckoo Clocks of Hell). This movie had a layer of mystery surrounding it for 20 plus years. Rumors of it being a product of the Mexican Mafia, to it being a legit snuff film made their way around until the year 2000.

We also touch on our normal bands and movies we've been checking out. You should check em out too. Either way, crack a cold one and tune in.

This episode we are trying to make sense of the cluster fuck that is ZOMBIE 3. Between subpar scripts, Fulci's early exit from the directors chair, and multiple fill in directors this movie was destined to be the splatter mess that it is. ZOMBIE 3 may not be the sequel we wanted but, it's the sequel we deserved.

Burnt Offerings is a podcast featuring horror movie, and music, news and reviews. Hosts Jared and Steve discuss horror films and whatever bands and releases they have been jamming all while downing a fine selection of cheap beer and malt liquor. Steve is a self proclaimed '80s slasher fan who doesn't enjoy much of anything that came out after 1994. If he's not watching Hide and Go Shriek while downing a 40oz of Mickeys and blasting Fister, then he's probably beating Friday the 13th for the NES in under 20min for the 1,000th time. Jared likes his movies gory, grainy, and with a good amount of sleaze. Anything from '80s slashers, to Italian giallos and Japanese death tapes. He enjoys watching a stack of tapes while spinning records, mostly Japanese raw punk, raw grind, or almost any NWOBHM band, and drinking a few beers. Catch us at a convention in the Midwest.
