Emerging Greek artist ANNĒ is back with her latest EP, Chicago 1980, a four-track techno record to be released on CROWD, the forward-thinking Berlin-based label by FJAAK. Known for her deeply-rooted influences from Detroit and 90s-00s techno, ANNĒ delivers a masterclass in driving, hypnotic beats and emotional depth with this new release.

The Chicago 1980 EP features the title track, a pulsating homage to the raw energy of the Chicago scene, blending crisp percussion with hypnotic grooves and dreamy chords, reminiscent of Robert Hood's classics. 'Propeller' keeps the intensity, pushing boundaries with its high-energy rhythms, industrial sounds and relentless bassline. 'Storyteller' pulls listeners into deeper territory, combining intricate layers of sound with a mesmerizing build and dystopian dissonant glimpses. 'Red Bones' rounds up the EP, delivering a dark, atmospheric finish, showcasing ANNĒ’s talent for balancing groovy rhythms with a heavy, dancefloor-ready sound.

To close out the year, Life In Patterns presents Spektrum II, the second installment in the compilation series curated by Ferdinger. This 16-track VA, scheduled to release in late November 2024, comes as a double vinyl with four digital bonus tracks and download codes.

Spektrum II ventures into the depths of dynamic techno, combining driving beats with intricate, groove-rich patterns. The compilation seamlessly shifts from deep, dubby tones to bright, euphoric moments, embodying the label’s signature sound. It’s a bold exploration of diverse sonic textures, blending harmonic and dissonant elements for an immersive listening experience.

Honored to open for an immensely talented artist in Eelke Kleijn for this one - I even got to pick him up from the airport and chat 1:1! As a newer DJ & Producer in this digital era, it was fascinating to get the perspective of someone who has been releasing music and touring at the highest level for 20+ years. Suffice it to say things have changed quite a bit.

I played nearly two hours on this one and had a packed room by the end. Sound, lighting and general set up at Great Northern was also top notch. I had relatively low expectations knowing I would be opening to an empty room initially, but the crowd and energy blew me away. Definitely need to play here and catch Eelke again!
