Patch Notes:

A mini Acid jam with easy sync from the Pam PRO’s PPEXP1 MIDI clock out.

The MIDI clock output from the PPEXP1 expander is connected directly to the MIDI input of a Cyclone Analogic TT-303 to externally sync its internal sequencer to Pamela’s PRO Workout. The rest of the system acts like a mini drum machine with Pam sequencing samples on the Squid and spectral mixing from the Jumble Henge. The TT-303 is boosted to Eurorack level via the S.B.G. return and mixed to the Henge’s unfiltered ‘Ext In’. The PPEXP Pam expanders make it easy to sync devices compatible with MIDI clock and Din Sync for quick and effortless jamming.

TT-303 x PPEXP1

This patch is from a series of jams featuring an all ALM groovebox style setup with sequencing from the ASQ-1 & Pam, sounds from Squid, Akemie’s Taiko & Tyso Daiko, and mixing via 2 MEGA-TANGs, Jumble Henge & MFX. A faderbank with 16 offsets is patched around the system for performance and macro controls (making use of the assignable CV inputs of Squid, Pam and MFX). 

Patch notes:
A chord and bass line from the Squid Salmple are processed through the built in channel filters with their cutoffs controlled via assignable CV by the faderbank offsets. The bass line is only triggered, with pitch changes occurring via stepping through different cue sets. The v/oct inputs are used to transpose the chord and bass lines together using the ASQ-1’s global transpose function. 

The snare and vocal samples are also a single sample using cue sets to step through different sounds each time the channel is triggered. An additional snare from the Tyso Daiko is layered in and processed by gated PL8 reverb from an MFX. 

The faderbank sliders control many changes including open hi-hat width, sample pitch, and the snare/vocal rolls. To create the fast rolls, Pam’s new ‘ratchet’ wave is used to trigger the sounds, with the slider controlling the width parameter to let more/less ‘triggers’ through.

Patch Notes: 

Larry Heard’s classic Chicago House track ‘Can You Feel It’ recreated using all ALM. The iconic 3 note bass line is sequenced by Quaid + ASQ-1 with its sound synthesised by MCO / MCF + MFX Juno chorus.

Originally created using only a Juno-60 and TR-909, Can You Feel It’s famous bass line was sequenced by triggering the Juno’s arpeggiator with a gate pattern from the 909. Here a similar method is used, with a trigger sequence from the ASQ-1 advancing the Quaid Megaslope’s 3 step sequence. The output of the Quaid is then passed back through the ASQ-1’s pitch quantiser to produce the correct notes. The Juno sound is recreated monophonically with MCO / MCF into the MFX’s ‘Ensembles Ensemble’ set to the Juno chorus mode. The remainder of the track is sequenced using both ASQ-1 and Pamela’s PRO Workout clocks / euclidean patterns with the sounds from the Squid. The Henge and PE-1 provide extra EQ and old school grit to the samples.
