GiGi FM is a trained dancer, which gives her a deeper insight into the intrinsic relationship between music and bodily movement. You can read a lot more about her philosophy and approach in the interview below, but you don't even need to know about it to hear this in her RA Podcast—a collection of swirling deep techno that rivals anything made by the usual cohort of "hypnotic" techno heads.

Looking at the tracklist doesn't really do it justice, but the names involved give you an idea of what to expect: Varuna, ASC, Donato Dozzy, The Orb, Sunju Hargun. This is techno that ripples rather than bludgeons, that moves with an ethereal grace, where tracks bleed into one another beautifully, with a few surprises, too. While you're here, you should check out her Magnetite EP for Bambounou's label Bambe, already one of the young year's most bewitching techno records. But if this is your introduction, then turn off the lights, light a candle or some palo santo, and sink into two hours of your new favorite techno DJ.

Patch Notes:

Building a busy beat with TAZM-O using the Pam PRO + AXON-2 to sequence and perform complex modulation changes and the MEGA-TANG to layer and control the levels of multiple shape outputs.

Different shape outputs from the TAZM-O are patched to the 4 channels of the MEGA-TANG with each VCA modulated by a different envelope shape/pattern from Pam PRO. The remaining outputs of Pam are patched to the TAZM-O, providing zappy envelopes to pitch and octave CV + rhythmic modulation to the FM Index (self patched TZFM) and Shape CV. The new AXON-2 is used to perform quick macro changes to the modulation with the 4 offset knobs altering rhythms, wave width, CV level and wave shapes for several outputs at once.

Patch Notes: 

Creating layered phase distortion and resonant chord voices and a kick + snare combo from 2 virtual VCV Rack CIZZLEs.

The fully featured VCV Rack CIZZLE has the exact same CZ style phase distortion sound engine and features as its hardware counterpart. Available now from the VCV Rack store - link in bio.

Here, 2 CIZZLEs are patched to produce chords and drums. The first uses both oscillators to produce chords with the morphing phase distortion and Rez waves. Each out is patched to a dedicated MFX to process the sounds, with Osc A running through the Ensembles Ensemble for chorus and Osc B running through the Digital-PCM Echo for delay.

The second CIZZLE is used to produce a kick + snare combo for the drum beat. The punchy kick is produced by patching an envelope from Pam to the V/Oct input to sweep the pitch along with another envelope to the built in VCA. The snare makes use of the unique Osc B Noise mode and a short envelope to the built in VCA. The VCV Rack version of the CIZZLE can be duplicated as many times as needed to design even more complex and interesting sounds!

experimenting with the chords on the Akemie's Castle FM module. this is a 4 operator chord patch with about 6 modulations going on as well as 4 loops on the make noise morphagene being switched around as a background layer.

a little rossum morpheus filter thrown in for resonance...

a lot of nice, bell-like tones from Akemie's.. it is, after all, an actual Yamaha FM synthesizer chip in a module...
