the Butchers are the premier indie soul/ R&B band in Salt Lake City.
The Butchers formed when Justin Ables and Will Archer met and bonded over a love of classic R&B, soul and funk.  After a chance meeting with local theater powerhouse Natalia Noble, the chemistry was palpable and the band was on.

A mix of classic Stax and Motown re-imagined and brought into the 21st Century with flavors of Chile, East LA, and Austin Texas, to say nothing of our own Rocky Mountains.  Rounding out the the ensemble are drum kingpin Shawn Lambert and Colorado born guitar virtuoso Nick Oakey Frost.
The Butchers cover a range of musical ground, with special emphasis on classic soul,  but with eyes to the future- ranging from Stevie Wonder and MJ to Adele and Amy Winehouse.  
Filling out the set are a number of the bands own original compositions combining all of these influences into a sound that is sophisticated without being fussy, soulful without being cliche, and always focused on bringing the groove to the dance floor.
