069 - Brandon Butler | Black Seven Music Podcast

Coming in hot from the United States, Brandon Butler & SKYE (US) drop a hearty two-track EP on Black Seven Music - My Kind Of Beat.

Our next release brings together two stateside talents with releases on Lost Audio, NONSTOP, Wasted music and more, making their label debut with a collaborative two-track EP filled with underground flavours and analogue richness.

The release opens with the title track ‘My Kind Of Beat’, diving straight into a selection of musical components. Headset kick drums pound off a wave of rippling percussive factors whilst a commanding bassline and detailed vocal chops steer you through a sea of subtle tonal layers.

Completing the release, ‘JWF’ carves a similar line to its predecessor. Punchy drum work and crisp rhythmic flair accompany a late-night vibe with cleverly processed sampling and creative use of spatial FX.

Sculpting his own sound from Euro-Latin dance music and influence from heavyweights Jamie Jones and Marco Carola, he brings a new vibe that has yet to be heard here. Attending Beatlab music academy in Los Angeles Brandon is searching for his own sound, and also looking to drop some original releases. There’s been a lot of time for reflection for Brandon Butler as of late after a hot start to his career. “I’m just scratching the surface, and this is a lifelong game for me”. Brandon over the past few years has quickly emerged as a rising star in the realm of house music, and one who has seemingly been able to adapt to an ever changing global landscape. The talented San Francisco (US) based producer and DJ has been churning out tunes that speak to masses over the past few years that resonate far beyond the local venues. Known for infectious, pulsating basslines, Brandon has crafted both a lighter and darker sound that have shook clubs from Printworks, to Pacha Ibiza by some of the biggest DJ’s in house music across the world. With influences such as Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Beltran, Joshwa, and Wheats he continues to strive to create a forward thinking sound that is loved by the masses.

His discography so far is a testament to his evolution as an artist. From early releases on Lost, Black Seven, Happy Techno, and NONSTOP, to some of his latest work, each production has showcased a commitment to pushing boundaries and redefining his sound. It’s clear that across the world, his music has become a soundtrack for diverse audiences who share a common passion for house music as deep as his. 

For the Bay Area, California native the future is promising.
