Paranoid London’s 303 broke in lockdown & they couldn’t find anybody that would repair it, so they got on & made the new EP without any trademark Acid tracks. The 4 EP tracks range from Liaisons Dangereuses inspired white noise percussion to banging sine wave techno, euphoric festival destroyers, to deep warped k-hole house, featuring a vocal contribution from Chicago’s Paris Brightledge.

For this 223th Premiere of 2021, we have a track by French producer "Alder" titled ‘Nou’ from the forthcoming split EP "Alder / Fasme - Acid Avengers 019" on the French label Tripalium Corp's subdivision : Acid Avengers Records.

With an eye in the past and a foot in the future, Acid Avengers aims at federating the vibrant acid scene, and especially the french one (Jaquarius, Voiron, Umwelt, Maelstrom, Minimum Syndicat, LostSoundBytes… but also Dez Williams, DeFeKT, Acidolido, Drvg Cvltvre, Fallabeil…). Through a series of split EPs, the record label invites artists from different styles (techno, electro, braindance, raw house, acidcore) to celebrate the hallucinated sounds of the TB-303.

Andy Toth casts a long shadow in the Detroit scene. From being co-founder of the Detroit Grand Pubahs to working as an engineer and mixer, he’s worked on so many records that you know but in his egoless way, didn’t know he was part of. Being the co-author of “Sandwiches” took him around the world, but more importantly it was the hold music for Mudgie’s, a legendary Detroit Deli run by another long standing denizen of the Detroit underground, Greg Mudge. Greg Mudge was a true pillar of our techno community in Detroit, from showing us the venue for the first leaky roof No Way Back, to throwing his own events and supporting great people. One of those people was Andy Toth, who he was constantly pressuring to release his music, and this became a major theme of Greg Mudge’s memorial.  When Greg suddenly passed last September, some friends came in to DJ his memorial like Derek Plaslaiko. When it was Andy Toth’s turn he played only his own productions and we were all just so blown away. Mudgie was always asking Andy “what’s up with those tracks?” And this record is the answer,  a testament to that thought, and to the deeply layered and detailed work of Andy Toth. Andy has created a uniquely dense Detroit Sci Fi trip through sound, with elements of acid, electro, techno that result in an advanced and mature adventure in sound, reflecting his roots in the Detroit scene, but pushing it into new hypnotic futures, to boldly go where no one has gone before.

Gentrified Underground presents an interdisciplinary project
tackling the sonic fiction & afrofuturism of Drexciya. 
Thought as an extension to the Bubble Chamber exhibition happening at Mikro & UP STATE Zürich, GU releases a 2x12 vinyl compilation and a booklet with contributions by Abdul Qadim Haqq, Charlie Mills, chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White, Gentrified Underground, Maïté Chéniere and tracks by Xor Gate (Gerald Donald), Shawescape Renegade, DJ Dijital, Plant43, The Exaltics, Kuldaboli, Iko, Tom Ware, Luz1e and Sansibar.

The goal of this compilation is to showcase the reach and influence which Drexciya had through generations of electronic music producers and also link them together with compositorial predecessors from the early 80s. The musical timeline on this compilation starts from 1982 and reaches its contemporary end in 2019.

"More than twenty years after their first release, the sonic
fictions produced by Drexciya, the Detroit based electronic
duo founded by James Stinson and Gerald Donald at the
start of the 1990s, continues to enthral contemporary
cultural practitioners. By reimagining the Transatlantic
Slave Trade as a fiction of enforced mutation, the Drexciya
mythos opened, and continues to open, a speculative space
for the reimagining of the posthuman condition, and for
questions of becoming, origin and mutation in relation
to capitalism, finance and futurity." - Kodwo Eshun

The booklet contains unseen and unreleased Drexcyan drafts by Abdul Qadim Haqq, an interview between him and GU, contemporary art contributions by chukwumaa, Dominiqueh White and Maïté Chéniere and an academic essay by Charlie Mills.

Just about three years to the date of its inception, Weapons of Desire hits no.14 (WOD014) with a single sided release from Sync 24 (Phil Bolland) and Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood) with a track entitled ‘Downforce’. A straight up Electro monster that will stand the test of time and be doing the rounds way after lockdown is a thing of the past. If this isn’t enough there is also a remix from Jensen Interceptor (Mikey Melas) with a Pulse width baseline of pure filth. No favourites here so we suggest you play them both back to back.

This is a limited single sided vinyl release of 200. Hand stamped and numbered personally by those reprobates at Weapons of Desire. Enjoy!
