If we were to pick one word to describe Ziggy Devriendt, AKA Nosedrip, it would probably humble. He runs a one-man empire out of the modest Belgian coastal town of Ostend, and his STROOM label is one of the most quietly brilliant outfits in Western Europe. A mixture of obscurer-than-obscure reissues and quirky new material makes for a label as unpredictable as it is essential, and Devriendt's unusual touch is all over it—he prefers to make up his own compilations and sequences instead of just repackaging old records, for example, which explains how important curation and putting songs together is to him.

So it's not a surprise that , in addition to being a music nerd supreme, Devriendt is also a remarkably good DJ, whose ear for oddball cuts translates well into intuitively danceable music. Judging from his RA Podcast, he's had trance on the mind—the mix features flighty beats that range from CJ Bolland and Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia to new-school practitioners like J-Zbel, plus a major highlight from Peter Van Hoesen that you might remember from Marcel Fengler's Berghain 05 mix and plenty of new material from Stroom. (He's also putting out a compilation of Belgian trance, which might explain the direction of this mix.) It's a three hour-ride that varies from jaw-dropping mixing to abrupt, almost shocking transitions that might startle you out of your chair.

Number one hundred & three presented by the Ghent, Belgium based KooDoo ( @karool ). It's always such a nice feeling being at a party or festival witnessing a set by someone you've never heard of that blows your mind. This was KooDoo at Waking Life on a beautiful sunny morning at the Floresta stage. A straight flowing warm groovy atmosphere for hours and pure dance floor bliss.

My friends and I loved his set so much I reached out for him to make an Animalia mix, so glad I did and what a beautiful result!

A beautifully curated love from the likes of DJ Luv you… A soaring star in the Naarm landscape, a magician of sorts; One that’s particularly exceptional at pulling ‘the good’ out of thin air. 

A master of their own story arc, putting in nothing but hard work and devotion to the art of selection. A DJ mainstay across the board, playing all types of ear sweeteners, their ability to adapt to any dance floor (and now any living room) is unparalleled, nailing the holy trinity of Naarm soundscapes ~club~radio~wine-bar. If you haven’t caught them yet at any of the aforementioned venues then put it on the top of your list, or listen to their countless, incredible mixes online (link below) 

If I haven’t convinced you yet of the sheer talent that they possess, this mix will do the talking for me. A serendipitous spin across time and continents whilst never missing a beat. The fact that this whole thing is mixed (perfectly) still blows my mind, even after 17 listens. I can only imagine the time and mind mapping the mix would’ve taken, but well worth every tedious second. Such an eclectic selection of tracks all with a thread of rhythm gently woven through them. So much future nostalgia compressed into an impressive 3 hour sojourn. A perfect accompaniment for a dinner party with friends evolving into dancing in the garden, all you need to do is figure out who’s hosting. Go forth, press play, have fun.

Welcome Yuzo Iwata to the BSRMIX!

Our dear friend and creator of one of our favourite albums (biased?) of the year 'Kaizu' blesses us with a top-drawer mix that perfectly compresses his refined style into a one hour session. As a selector for multiple record stores including the infamous Sound Metaphors, the Berlin based 50% Cubano, 50% Japanese producer, DJ and karate blackbelt is an expert in the acidic, trippy and thoughtful strains of dance music. Scratch the surface with this mix and dig down deep!
