BSRMIX #150 - Tornado Wallace

Vlada (@playvlada) has been playing all over the globe since just 18 years of age. Russia-born but Berlin-based for many years now, her sound is defined by a long, winding mixing style and is built on hypnotic basslines that slowly but surely zone you out. 

That very much comes out in this week's mix which initially locks you into a signature meditative pace but then builds with smart gear shifts and technical mixes. There are acid flashes to liven things up, bright synths spiraling around electrifying techno, broken beats to keep things moving then more stark industrial and metallic textures that place you at the heart of a strobe-lit and floor. It is another masterful mix full of must-find tunes from this ever more essential selector.

We're very proud to announce the release of S.O.N.S' complete 7-hour vinyl set, which was recorded at 宀 for the February 2024 edition of VG+.

S.O.N.S, real name Tim, is pushing the vinyl format throught his adventurous DJ sets and his record store Junction in Seoul, South Korea. Having settled in the city more than 10 years ago, he has been part of the local electronic music community development and is currently resident DJ of the reknowned Ring club, at the heart of the Itaewon District.With several well received records under different aliases (Dj Jacuzziy, SYO...) and collaborations (Forest Witches, Giorgio Celeste & The Cobra) mostly self released on his own labels, he divides his time between making music in the studio, caring for the customers in the store, and digging compulsively for new yet unearthed music.

Ngunnawal orginator, now Eora based kuta is a firm DJ, radio host and producer rooted in an affection for the art of deep digging and sound history.  Experienced in the forms of storytelling through sound; the emphasis on ebb n flow leads to attentive listening. Filling forms of sound through atmospheric textures the use of space and a seemingly never ending array in the record bag, intimacy and knowledge come together in force. This BSRMIX is a collection of 90’- 00’s electronica in the various forms of dub and trip hop compiled of rare labels, local specialés and forgotten tales in a moody 3+ hour session.

The closing is always a special time, especially for a non-stop, intimate event like Bonanza. When we managed to convince Jane to come to our little jungle riverside rave-up, we knew it was the slot for her. You can feel the emotion and energy on display over these 4 glorious hours; dive in and bask in the sun-kissed squelch.
