Vervemix 23 comes from Eora's @mijahealey - FBI radio presenter, DJ and Pure Space creative connoisseur alongside Andy Garvey, 

In this mix she takes us through an hour of post-punk ambience that seamlessly moves between industrial beats, warped breakbeat and experimental jazz before delving into world-music inspired electronica with persian melodic scales. 

There's a reason why she's known for pushing experimental music in Sydney's underground.

Test subject 1.19 @tangerine_tangerine launches into a murky space consumed by chaos and dark matter. Arcs of aggression and tendrils of rage are implemented with deadly precision to enact a no-holds-barred aural onslaught from all directions. An incredible expression of the human psyche in a state of frustration and confusion - come well prepared for the high-intensity skirmish set to ensue.

"I felt like I was observing a take on the (emotional) representation of chaos and frustration. Messy, smudgy, and confusing! Inspiration for this mix definitely came from a period recently when I was churning through ZULI’s music and mixes. He does not hold back whatsoever and makes way for a lot of angry and high-intensity sounds. This image seems to evoke similar feelings to what I experience when listening to his selections so I decided to take a similar approach of not thinking about holding back whatsoever, which is a really cool opportunity with a mix since there is no pressure to conform to a context other than your own whim." Head Noise is Yours

Written over 18 or so months, this EP is a collection of imprints, both aural and textural. Inspired by jobfit’s world, the release reflects the Australiana and etches a maelstrom of feelings: desire, mania, illusion, disquiet.

Our second release of the year comes via Eora Nation (Sydney, Australia) outfit jobfit, returning to the label with their new EP ‘Longer Form Cat Calls’.

Through this release jobfit continues to sincerely explore the intersection of spoken word and electronic music. The relationship between the production and poems have seen jobfit develop a new poetic fluidity. It supersedes classical poetic conventions allowing for a new aural space that delicately allows room for thought and movement.

Ideas of longing and escapism collide with the realities of music, it’s people and the ‘scenes’ that hold them together. jobfit explores what it means to love these communities and spaces, and sometimes not understanding why. There is understanding that these spaces are temporary, periodically autonomous, fragile, kaleidoscopic, transitory, and stolen.

The crisp and clever percussion and vocals intertwine throughout the EP, which incorporates references from breaks and swirling tech house with nods to electro and acid.

Tracks written, produced and mixed by jobfit on Gadigal land. Pure Space and jobfit both acknowledge the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
