Finally, almost three years after the well-received Orange Wine EP, and three international tours, Okvsho is back with their fourth project “A place between us”. Georg and Christoph Kiss, the two brothers behind Okvsho, are showcasing a project that is more intimate and bolder than ever, offering an insight into their thoughts, feelings, and experiences during the last two years. The unique style Okvsho has become known for in recent years has once again evolved, combining organic and electronic elements with beautiful harmonies and expressive rhythms. 
Okvsho's second LP will also be the first full-length project to be released on the newly founded Zurich-based label Current Moves, with which the Okvsho-brothers aim to shape the young European jazz scene they are inspired by and also an established part of.

“Bluesy Balearica” is one way to describe the music of Danish guitarist Jonas Krag. A seasoned composer, producer and session guitarist, Krag has poured a career’s worth of melodic craft into Santino Surfers—his first solo venture. The vision, as formulated by his 2023 debut album, is one of lusciously wrought, sundrenched soul-rock, incorporating jazz, blues, and funk-elements.
 
His new song ‘Mexican Blue’ is released on June 14 on Music For Dreams. The track plays like spaghetti western Balearica: warm guitars twanging through smoky saloons, grooving in the sunlit dust. Layered with swirling percussion and deep, cradling bass.

The third release of Alma Negra Records' '12 Rhythms' series is dedicated to the music of Eritrea, a small (in African terms, that is) country nestled in between Sudan and Ethopia on the south end of the Red Sea. Drawing from its native spiritual roots as well as the Christian and Islamic influences of conquering factions, this multi-ethnic country is home to a truly diverse plethora of cultures and musical styles. 
"On this EP, we are happy to showcase the music of the Saho People from the Region of Zula, which is located in between the coastal lowlands close to the Dahlak archipelago. The word “Saho“ roughly translates) as “Nomad“, pointing towards a lifestyle in which tradition and culture are passed on orally over generations. 
"As such, the exact source for these edits of the Saho Sound are lost to the murky depths of history, as they are based on traditional folk songs. With kind permission of Colophon Records, we were able to work on this material and are now very happy to shed some light on the wonderful music of this region and its people!"

"Complete with that a unifying clarion call to party, known as the ‘ululate trill’, this is again a call & response vocal pattern, seemingly at odds with the somber backing track. Exploring a deeper, jazzier mood, we added moody piano chords and a balafon, with a subtle but powerful bassline, along with some hefty 808-thud holding everything together."
