We had a lot of interesting characters in Kalalau Valley when I was there in the early 2000s and Yahweh, the crazy naked guy was one of them. While writing Spiritual Pizza, I asked Larry if he remembered any good Yahweh stories, and this episodes is the Yahweh story Larry told me. 

There were other interesting characters in Kalalau, like Santiago and Heath, who unfortunately didn’t have enough of a story to make into the Spiritual Pizza. Santiago never gets mentioned at all and Heath appears in Spiritual Pizza few times, but without any story of his own and never he says a word in any of the stories. 

Heath’s lack of words was apropos, because Heath was not a big talker. The first time I walked into Kalalau Valley in 2002, Heath had already been there for years. And he  was there again the last time when I did a Kalalau Burt drop in 2012.  Those were my 50th & 60th birthdays respectively and Uncle T was still there then  too. T a made me birthday cake and though not as grand as the one he did for Pierce in 2003, it was ono nonetheless. 

I wish I had a Santiago story worth telling. His family came looking for him once and once Yahweh was gone, Santiago took up with Yahweh’s girlfriend. Other than that, not much I can say about Santiago. 

However, coming up next is Larry’s story about Yahweh, the crazy naked guy and features a song by Alaska Dave. Sad to say, Alaska Dave passed away not too many moons ago. But Dave’s song lives on in this podcast, for what we hope will be a digital eternity. 

“Where will you run to, where will you run to, when the copters come?” It seems that Dave has taken refuge in the big sanctuary camp in the sky.
