How To Want To (feat. Eliza Harrison Smith)

“My Lament Song” was born from the passing of Anthony Trimble, July of this year. The day he passed become overwhelmed with grief, even though I had only met him a few times. While in the middle of praying for his family, the Lord gave me a song title, “My Lament Song”. I immediately went down to the keyboard and began to write. God impressed on me that worship in times of loss are essential, but also that our time of lamenting is essential. It’s more than okay, it’s necessary. He actually rests in the lamenting with us. 

The demo was left untouched for a few months. Until December the 4th, 2021 at around 3 PM. This is when my sweet Papa went to be with God. I felt like the completion of this demo needed to happen that day. So that afternoon we cut the vocals. Who would have thought Anthony’s passing would create a song, that God would know I would need months later. I’m honored to be the grandchild of Carl Varnell. His life was an entire example of living the Apostolic truth. I am who I am, because a man 40 years ago decided to service God whole heartedly. It change the course for three generations. The best way to pay respect to him, is to continue that legacy. Papa, I love you. I can’t wait to see you on the other side.
