The trend we see is accessibility getting better

But just wait the Digital Age is even more exciting

Simply put the Internet came in and changed the game
A file format called MP3 yea you know the name
Tiny files, bigger storage - nothing was the same
Now the industry got a lotta problems they gotta face
Napster, Kazza, Limewire to name a few
Peer to peer sharing illegal but ayyyye its free to use
This was a problem for artists and major record labels
Money being lost by opportunities the web enabled 
But then Apple saved it all
Pay a dollar for a song
Download to your iPod
iTunes really taking off
And now we a see shift in listener UX
Why would you buy an album? Half the tracks you click next
So the single became the unit of focus
The old model was broken
The music industry noticed
Yea now the power really shifting to the people
The record labels gotta pivot now and thats for real
They see their future and their fate lay in the streaming game
They’re cutting deals with Spotify and they’re not ashamed
The Internet brings a ton of listener data
Spotify can track the trends from LA out to Jamaica
So what's that mean for you me?
Hyper-personalization like the world's never seen
Algorithms can predict the music that you're gonna need
Smaller artists get attention, that's better discovery
Not to mention having access to 30 million songs
And at a low monthly cost we all can get along
This a great solution for now but stick around
The future gonna change and you bet I'll tell you how

Verse 3

So where does music go from here?
How will you consume a song any different in a year?
The vast amount of choices will never become abandoned 
Just think it's like the atmosphere, it always is expanding
And you can thank the Internet for that 
Without it we’d be at the mercy of record label acts
And thats whack
We’ll also see increasing numbers of collaboration
Anyone can work with anybody isn’t that amazing?
Your favorite rapper will be featured on your favorite pop star's song
If they haven’t already you bet it won’t be long
It's safe to say that streaming's here to stay
But you might see a little spike in what you have to pay
Cuz Spotify is operating at a loss
And some artists want more money for streaming their catalogue
Rumor has it some musicians want to start their own thing
I'm not talking Tidal, I'm talking something that won't stink
Look, we're still figuring it out
But i guarantee that fans will no longer have to shout
When they're looking for attention from an artist with some clout
Just go on Instagram and see what their day's about, do it now

Music lovers today are so lucky to be living in the present
