Help Me Get Out

“A Sea of Shape and Form” was one of Ocean’s personal demos before being brought to life with the rest of the band. It was one of those songs that changed dramatically throughout its creation, with the piano melody, bits of the percussion and the background ambience being the only parts of the track to survive the entire writing process untouched.

It eventually got to the point where all that was really left to do was tackle the strings arrangement. The other guys were away at the time, and Ocean desperately wanted to surprise them with the finished track, but the band's condenser mic stand was broken and beyond repair. He ended up sticking it out one night and hung the mic off the edge of the studio table while recording every take kneeling on the floor. Arguably, the results were well worth it.

The tracks comprising this album all began as demos that were written and recorded at home during the two years that the band lived together. Towards the end of this time, we sat down and listened to these demos, narrowing the list to 37 and then down again to an extended album cut of 21 tracks. 15 of those would become the album that was released on Friday the 13th of June, 2025.

These six extra tracks mark an end to the selection of By Tomorrow's home studio demos that were chosen to be released.
