Allegri's Miserere was only heard in the Sistine Chapel for over 100 years until a 14 year old Mozart - ignoring the threat of excommunication - heard it and wrote it down note for note. The famous "high Cs" are a mistake - the inclusion of a transcription Mendelssohn made when hearing the piece sung transposed up a 4th. Somehow it got mixed up with the original and then became one of the most memorable parts of the piece.

This track was recorded in February 2021 by Rob Milner and his daughter Rosanna. They had been recording music for St Helen’s church, Wheathampstead during the Covid lockdowns and it had been jokingly suggested by friends they should record Spem in Alium  by Tallis. 

All 40 tracks were recorded and mixed in Rob’s attic office using Logic Pro - Rosanna singing Soprano and Alto for all 8 choirs and Rob the remaining 24 parts.
