Burgess Tomlinson AKA “byrdsol” was born the son of New Jersey doo wop DJ Doc South. He grew up listening to his father’s extensive vinyl collection and since there was always a piano in the house he started playing at an early age with his mother. In high school he studied music theory and started learning how to write music on a Ensoniq keyboard sampler connected to a vintage 707 drum machine that he found one fateful night while skateboarding with friends. His professional career in the music industry spans over 15 years.

Burgess and Rona Rapadas AKA Tarsier, professional known as Healamonster & Tarsier, developed a successful music career that ranges from opening for acts The Sneaker Pimps, School of Seven Bells, 2 national tours with Alias (anticon), and breaking KCRW’s top 10 with the songs “Cotton Candy”,“Vista”, and “Daxmosphere”. The duo turned 5 piece band broke up in the middle of a rising bubble and byrdsol is about picking oneself up, starting over from scratch and continuing a life work. 

His new album “pierreponte” has been on the Electronic Best Sellers List at Amoeba Music Hollywood for 8 out of 11 months since the local limited release. "SloKngHrpBeat" song number 10 on the album is featured in the documentary “I am Thalante” which won the audience award at the LA Film Festival 2015. His music and handscreened one of a kind “Chucks” were also featured in the Converse “Made by Me” interactive poster exhibit/campaign.
