Ceri is a London born DJ, with a signature sound of all things house and techno. Making her mark recently on the UK scene, she holds her ground and keeps the floor just where it wants to be, in all situations; from deep house and dark and dubby tech, to main room underground house, tech-house and techno. As a young teenager she used to sneak off to clubs like fabric, The End (RIP) and the Camden Palais in London, feeling most at home in the middle of the dancefloor.

Later, whilst at university in Southampton, she was further immersed in the electronic music scene at the time, never missing the infamous high tide boat parties or legendary nights at the (sadly now closed) Rhino club. Her last day in Southampton was the same day she flew to Ibiza to live for the summer, following the source of so much of the music she loved. By this point she didn’t just love dance music, she was obsessed by it and her love of music became her life.

Now over ten years on from her first taste of clubland, she has played for some of the UK’s biggest and best clubs such as; Sankeys, Cable, Brixton Academy, The Tunells, Ministry of Sound, Cargo and Egg, for nights like Jaded, Rhythmatic, Zombies and Get Diverted, as well as appearing at smaller nights at underground venues like Public Life in London and across the UK.

The next natural step for her musically was production and after making her production debut remixing Askani’s "Cookie Funk" on 3am in February 2012, it was swiftly followed her debut full release, the "Something's Cooking EP". It was released on the excellent Midnight Social Recordings label which garnered support from the likes of Rob Mello, Yaya, Raymundo Rodriguez, Terry Francis & more. Ceri then returned to 3am for her first full artist release for that label and is also working on even more remixes and original tracks for the numerous other labels that have approached her to do something for them after hearing the quality and originality of her first few tracks.

Hayley Martinez is first and foremost an underground house music lover, the DJing came from her obsession with gritty dirty house music. Over the past few years, she’s been following labels and artists who put out real bass driven house along with rolling tech and deep house. Her knowledge of house music and her passion for the club scene is very apparent and she meticulously chooses the right music for her sets. Hayley has a real knack for putting together some pretty sick DJ sets and perfectly programmed mixes. With her passion to hear the music she loves, Hayley recently created a brand with Jay Francisco called Electric Parade, with the idea of getting DJ’s together who play a particular sound and who have the same passion for the same scene, putting out monthly podcasts starting in 2012. Most recently, she’s been playing her bassline and deep house sets to appreciative crowds around Shoreditch and Dalston, and there’s more to come....

Samantha Blackburn (Byrdz Resident) is a well recognised name within the London house music scene; a lady who really has proved her talent by performing at some of London's coolest parties. Samantha's expressive style behind the decks is reflective of her assorted likings of anything deep or tribal tech, always driving, her sets are soulfully balanced with melodies, rolling beats and melodic chimes reminiscent of her South African roots. Samantha knows how to please a crowd and her track selection is always nothing but excellent. This is her edge - she is something different - out of the box.

After making names for themselves as individuals and becoming recognised within London’s underground clubbing scene, Samantha Blackburn and Chloe Fontaine have embarked on a new empowering journey as a promoter duo.

Byrdz is a night dedicated to dark, deep and sultry rolling beats and basslines, with strictly female spinners. 

DJing has long been a male dominated field but with the addition of these talented ladies to the mix, London now has a new base for fresh female talent of 2012 and beyond, helping to pave the way for other like-minded femmes.

London-born Chloé Fontaine, and Samantha Blackburn, originally from South Africa, created Byrdz back in August 2011 as a platform to showcase and promote female DJs London while adding their expressive, passionate styles and skill on the circuit as solo DJs, both holding residencies at some of London’s most avant- garde and leading-edge parties and also regular slots on local radio stations.

In recent years Samantha and Chloé have become popular names within London’s house music scene, with Chloé’s excellent knowledge of house, from rolling tech and techno to deeper and more soulful sounds, and Sam’s distinctive driving tech and tribal rhythms. Both women have already enjoyed a number of international bookings and Samantha has recently been labelled “one to watch” by Mixmag. Chloé’s productions have been snapped up with releases on two different techno labels this coming May and June. These two women together make a truly desirable fusion.

Samantha and Chloé want to see more women getting up there on the decks, as the scene needs more female emotive influences to add to its repertoire. Byrdz already has a strong, committed following, and is growing rapidly. Summer 2012 will be their first season in Ibiza and they are currently being contacted by people bugging out over the concept and wanting to take the brand to the next level securing international spots for the rest of the year.
