I haven’t posted a recording of my djing for quite some time now, I feel this is a moment I can and want to share.

This 5 hour closing set has been something special for me.

Walking into de school not knowing what was about to happen, only thinking that I would see this as my musical homage to being a resident to this amazing place, a space where I was going to play one of my most memorable sets to this day. What started as 3 hours planned of a closing ended up in 5 hours of pure bliss. 
The responses on that moment have changed a lot for me. It made me rethink why I dj, why I make music and why I love doing this thing I do so much. 

These 5 hours are filled with: unknown hits to big dance bangers, music for happiness, loneliness, loving, hating, remembering, forgetting, friendship and everything in between.

Berlin based vinyl only dj @salty_dj is young but emerging through the woodwork rapidly. He's quickly becoming well-known for his vinyl only sets which span through the early eras of techno, house &  trance.. an overall progressive sound with a distant hint of nostalgia.

He's a resident of Southern German, Shockwerk collective and has had recent performances at Weltspiele, Tresor, Mala Junta, and Kulør’s label night at Berghain.

A deeply passionate dance music collector with his own distinctive sound, he is surely and firmly establishing himself as one to watch in the electronic dance scene.

Animix One Hundred & Sixty Three: Salty DJ

Ahead of Amniote Editions’ 5 year anniversary night at Bassiani on the 6th of December (cancelled due to street protests) comes a very special mix from Munich’s finest, BASHKKA. Derived from the Turkish word for ‘different’ (she has roots there), the name reflects a no f*cks given approach to sound and culture that draws people toward her like moth to flame. From formative days in New York City where she started taking inspiration from its wealth of queer histories, she carved an insubordinate sound that’s crossed the Atlantic and set up shop in her native Germany, where her liberating tunes have found common cause with such venues as Blitz Club, Panorama Bar and Amsterdam’s Raum just a hop and a skip across the border. The aim is to reclaim spaces, assert the existence of marginalised groups (SWANA people like herself for one), amplify their narratives and create moments’ where ‘individual heartbeats merge into one motherbeat’. Further to those activist visions, her debut EP Maktub (2023) was a five-track banger and labour of love that synthesised Kurdish vocal samples with runaway beats. The reference to overlooked perspectives and elusive spark found at the intersection of culture and sound is the driving force, and something that’s felt in the gut when she plays. It’s a much needed energy in turbulent times, a reminder that you can save the world and have fun doing it. For Bassiani Podcast 242, BASHKKA brings her inimitable rhythms to the fore of the counter-cultural struggle: brazen and rave-ready, a two-hour trip to the future, slamming beats from a true icon.

Mark Peeters’ self-styled persona Caim exudes good vibes, an aura of love and is a guaranteed good night out. He’s a Dutch producer and jockey with pep in his step, bouncing from club to club, continent to continent, never taking himself too seriously, simply relaying sounds as they come and giving his crowds the fun they came for. Watch him play and there might just be one question left to answer, whether it’s him or those on the other side of his set-up enjoying themselves more. Years into his musical project he’s got the stamina of a newly minted selector, a ‘knob-twitching, crate digging’ beat enthusiast whose sets twist and turn from techno to trance to breakbeat to house. Alongside a residency at Amsterdam’s Breakfast Club and at the helm of his city’s Mood parties, he also runs Lonely Planet Records, a label on which his own EP is set for release on November 15th. The Medusa Hunter is set to be a futuristic, Goa-inspired record where the myths of the past and the bright lights of future converge. Little doubt it’s going to be a banger. Bassiani Podcast 243 brings his stream of references together in a groovy mash up that gently rises and falls, three hours and thirteen minutes of sweet-toothed electronic bliss, a set recorded live during his performance on the Horoom floor back in September.

When it comes to an OK Williams mix, you can expect pretty much anything. The South East London selector hosts a monthly show on NTS, where she'll play everything from bangin' techno to R&B, jungle, UK funky and rap. After falling in love with selecting through a friend who worked at Boiler Room, Williams was (pre-Covid) regularly playing clubs like Panorama Bar and festivals like Field Manuevers - the list goes on - becoming a favourite DJ of Anz's and going b2b with DJs like Peach and Shanti Celeste. Like all the best DJs out there, she doesn't limit herself to one genre, fielding the best from all the reaches of modern music and bridging gaps in the most exciting ways possible. In an interview with gal-dem, she described her sound as "the kind of music that gets people hyped. I don’t care about the genre, I just want them to dance. I want to elicit a response”. That mood is at play on her Dummy Mix, where OK Williams draws on everything from funky to house to techno and beyond, a riotous blend of melodies and rhythms. "I compiled and recorded this mix during the full moon which I think has taken its toll on me," she says. "Feeling a bit triumphant and defeated at the same time. Most of these tracks make me want to dance really hard, a couple of them make me want to sit and cry. Missing the club and all that comes with it, can't wait to dance with my friends again."

One of the best two hours of 2020 are now available forever in your streams. Well at least the audio recording of it. Each set of DJ Fart in the Club ends up a highlight and it's no secret that the co-organizer of the Imaginary Friend parties around infamous Ziegrastraße in Berlin is one of the best DJs our wonderful city has to offer. Still this one has been special, as its been happening at one of the few occasions we could get together, dance together this year. Hope you'll enjoy this live-recording as much as we did enjoy her closing the rave in September.
