C. Carters is an east coast musical group and collaboration between Tekone (Chad Carter) from Virginia, and rapper Averis (Casey Carter) from North Carolina. The two artists started the project in summer 2010 and have posted more than thirty songs online. Their songs, ranging from hip hop to trance, dubstep to R&B, means they have one of the most unique sounds in the industry today. 

Tekone is a co-founder of the group Forbidden City, along with Virginia Beach's Mike Walla, and they have been working together for more than five years, producing, recording, and pushing other artists music in the process. Tekone is also a major contributor to the Virginia Beach art scene, and is a co-creator of the Flux Capasity Workshop. Tekone's experience is not to be questioned; he is one of the illest producers that Virginia has to offer, and has produced in excess of 100 tracks for area artists. 

Averis hails from Jacksonville, North Carolina, but has been in the studio with artists from Statesville, Winston-Salem, Greenville and Williamston, honing his craft, writing and recording more than fifty songs. You can hear his lyrical dynamism from the first listen. 

Averis and Tekone met after the passing of a family member and were surprised to find that they both had been making music. It was only a matter of days and Averis decided to travel the three hundred miles of highway to Virginia Beach from Jacksonville, and by the end of that first afternoon, the two artists had created five songs from scratch. Two months later, with Averis travelling back and forth, the two cousins had put together a compilation of 25 songs; a number that grows every month.

Their first album is a clever mix of dubstep, up beat techno-influenced pop, and east coast rap, with Averis' slightly southern dialect to lead the way. The sheer depth of his lyricism is mind-boggling, with songs like "Free Tonight", which tells a story of a man's one night stand with another man's wife, to "Last Love Letter", a song written about a man finding his wife in bed with his best friend, and his struggle to deal with the aftermath. "Make 'Em Say", the first song from the album, will force you to remember this 23 year old emcee's name.

Tekone really shines on "Steezy", a grime and dubstep mix that makes car windows shudder before the beat even drops. "Actively Acting" highlights Tek's piano work, and also shows off Averis' natural abilities. Even more intriguing are the way the two artists blend their particular styles together to create a sound that is as all at once different from what is played on the radio, and yet still something that pop music fans can adore. 

This group is proof that amazing things can happen, even from out of a bad situation. C.Carters is set to do big things in the Spring, with shows scattered about North Carolina and Virginia, and a contract with Universal Music group already on the table.
