Skinny Ones

C. Gibbs ( aka Christian Gibbs) has released over 15 albums under  monikers such as C. Gibbs, The C. Gibbs Review, C. Gibbs and The Cardia Bros., Lucinda Black Bear, Motherwell Johnston, Christian Gibbs, The Droves, Morning Glories and - as of late - He Arrived By Helicopter.  His projects have ranged from Orchestral Indie-Folk to Southern Space-Rock to Ambient Instrumental to Gothic Americana and he has been praised in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR,  NBC News and other notable media. 
Raised in San Diego, CA., Gibbs began his musical career at age 20 when he arrived in London for a semester abroad, answered a help wanted ad for a guitarist and promptly fled college to assume employment as Modern English’s guitarist. The young man’s parental nightmare took him to posts playing with Jim Thirlwell’s Foetus, fronting New York rock trio Morning Glories, and settling into a solo career signing to Atlantic Records and BMG as a songwriter. He has been releasing records ever since on small independent labels and his own imprint Eastern Spurs. His new release "Tales from the Terramar" chronicles a move back to California from NYC during the pandemic and hints at topics of addiction and renewal.  The new album will be released 09/17/2021 and features Gibbs band from Brooklyn; Tim Kuhl (Sean Lennon, Margaret Glaspy, Goastt)- drums, Matt Brandau (Old Ceremony)- bass, and Philip Sterk (Midland)- pedal steel. Matt Lynott (drums) and Christopher Hoffee (bass) from the band The White Buffalo also make an appearance on the title track. Gibbs has also dipped his toes in the theater world. He performed as the lead guitarist in the Tony Award Winning Broadway Production of Passing Strange. He also appears in The Spike Lee movie of the same name.  He has opened for / shared the stage with Margaret Cho, Mogwai, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sinkane, John Mellencamp,  Stew and TNP,Little Richard, Son Volt,  John Doe and many more.
