MARC HOULE UNVEILS ‘RESTORED’ REMIX ALBUM 	

Marc Houle is set to release a full remix package from his debut LP, Restore, featuring remix contributions from an all-star line-up of techno luminaries including Danny Daze, Harvard Bass, Julian Jeweil, Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y., Popof and Marc Houle himself.

Originally released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label a decade ago, Restore stands alone as Houle’s very first long-player and helped to establish his penchant for the quirkier side of techno and his superlative production skills. Spread across 11 tracks it encapsulated the dark, minimal, groove-driven sound purveyed by Hawtin and the rest of the Minus crew, while retaining a strong sense of Houle’s unique character and identity. Now it’s the perfect time to breath new life into an album that has stood the test of time, still utterly infectious and absorbing – a collection of music that captures an era of stripped back, yet captivating sounds. 

10 years since its release, the album is getting the remix treatment and Marc has called in some of the very best in techno talent to give Restore a fresh makeover. The selection of artists who’ve contributed to the ‘Restored’ project includes heavyweights such as Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y. and Popof together with additional reworks from stars of the new generation such as Danny Daze, Julian Jeweil and Harvard Bass, all giving his tracks a new lease of life. In addition, Houle himself has also stepped up to offer a new contemporary take on his own music, collaborating with vocalist Genevieve Marentette on ‘Demor’.

"Restore was the beginning of it all for me.  It was influenced by the sounds of Detroit and the endless parties I went to there in the 90s. Desolat label boss Loco Dice kicks off 2018 in fine style with a huge new single which sees the him reflecting on his musical roots and his connection to Dusseldorf, Detroit and beyond, whilst giving a taster for a brand new long player to come later in the year. 
Dice’s recent past has seen the master of robust house and techno funk serve up killer remixes of Moby’s classic ‘Go’ and release his Underground Sound Suicide album, whilst continuing to headline the biggest clubs and festivals around the world. At the same time, he has directed his endless passion and musical sensibilities to bare upon his Desolat label, with a stream of records released from some of the most exciting artists around and supported by DJs across the globe. Now though the stage is set for the first new Loco Dice original recording in some time and it is sure to see him once more at heart of the global scene. The bristling ‘Roots’ is a typically forceful track that blurs the lines between house end techno. It has twitchy synths bringing the energy to hurried drums as smooth chords add real soul. The claps are coarse & edgy, whilst Dice’s own dark vocals bring a brooding atmosphere and the whole thing is a synapse firing rave-up that cannot fail to detonate any dance floor. An instrumental is also included for even more visceral thrills. 
This new single is the lead track from Dice’s latest album project, entitled ‘Love Letters’ and to be released later in 2018.

‘Any Which Way’ sees the Detroit legend take a trip into the deep, creating a sleek cosmic slice of techno that evokes an unmistakable sense of the Motor City. The track has been a key feature of his sets in recent months, with its deep, searing melody line and atmosphere-laden grooves working perfectly whenever he’s had the opportunity to take dancefloors on extended journeys. 
The package includes Pullen’s ‘Dirty Mug’ and ‘Dub Mug’ mixes, with the twisted synth lines that teeter on the brink between acid and psychedelia providing a souped-up contrast to the original. 
On the remix tip, Desolat’s Martin Buttrich has been drafted in to superb effect. The ‘Red Mix’ sees the German utilise the main synth line from Pullen’s original to create a melody-flushed re-rub, while the ‘Green Mix’ re-routes it towards moodier deep house territory, with its delicate brew of drums, low slung bass and swirling synth layers.
For Pullen, ‘Any Which Way’ marks the follow up release to last year’s ‘Circus Act’ on Blackflag that was supported by Pete Tong on BBC Radio 1 and a host of DJs across the techno and house scenes, while also featuring strongly on Beatport’s Tech House chart. 
It also continues a busy 2013 to date, with the re-release of his 1998 classic ‘Sweat’ under the Black Odyssey moniker (originally Blackflag 001) and a Beatport sponsored competition to remix the track.
 “With ‘Any Which Way’ I wanted to get back to moody but groovy techno, something that hits your emotions, but still packs a punch. There’s so much music out at the moment, I really wanted to create something with a fresh edge to it, while still producing something that DJs and fans would connect with a modern take on Detroit. On the remix tip, I chose one of my favourite producers Martin Buttrich. C.J. has been letting the music speak for itself.  Having played at BPM, WMC, ADE, Sunset Campout.  In the Bay Area at clubs Audio, Love & Propaganda (formerly Vessel), The Great Northern, Temple, The Endup, and The Oasis (Oakland).  CJ is a part of the Delta Funk crew who has been doing events for the las 15+ years.  Delta Funk has been throwing parties in clubs, underground, after-hours & park events in SF & Oakland.  A resident DJ & sound technician at Audio since 2014.  A regular guest on Stanford Radio Shows "The Loop" & "Electronic Groove" & during KZSU Summer & Winter Solstice Marathons.

He has posted a new live monthly podcast on since June 2006, plus additional guest mixes on the Delta Funk podcast, Hidden Cove & Broadview Radio.  C.J.’s sets can go through a range of just about anything from downtempo/hip-hop to mid-tempo/disco/funk to house/tech-house/techno reading the room and providing the vibe to keep alive.

C.J. is now looking to spend time in the studio now & get some tracks released in 2017 and beyond.  He’s been in the studio, making a lot of personal edits of house & disco tracks to fit his DJ style.
