Hello to anyone reading this! My name is Cola C. Outlaw Jr. and I’m originally from Newport News Va. I grew up in a strict Christian household. No secular music was allowed. So my earliest musical influences were gospel artists. Andrae Crouch, Walter and Edwin Hawkins, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, etc. I did manage to sneak around and listen to M.J., Prince, tons of funk bands. Cameo, Lakeside and the like. And in 1981 my musical horizons expanded greatly with MTV. Van Halen, The Police, Elvis Costello, The Clash and countless other rock and new wave bands were added to my musical vocabulary. I didn’t pick up an instrument with the intent to learn it until I was 25 years old. Starting with guitar, I moved to bass. And then drums and a little keyboard. The music you hear on this page is mostly powered by sheer love of the muse. Some of it was created by myself and a band I was in called Lucid Nuance. Some of it was created with a Fruity Loops program alone. All of it was created with love. I’m confident that you’ll hear and feel that love when you check out my songs. Peace y’all!!
