We’re super excited to present youarenotgoingtoparis as the seventeenth mix in our Sounds of SMUT series! Berlin based Alex has been making quite the name for himself for some time now, as the organiser behind New York-based party ‘Mister Sister’, as well as resident of Brooklyn/Berlin-based queer collective ‘Bleak’, who host their next party is in just two days at Oxi Club in Berlin, alongside collectives Brenn and Subverted. 

This hour-long workout takes you through the parameters of Alex’s sound, one that is powerful, energetic, emotive and propelling. Sounds reminiscent of darkened rooms and ephemeral spaces enrich this mix, with Alex describing it as a ‘hypnotic blend of psychedelic low-end bass, techno and house. [It’s] definitely a journey from beginning to end.’ This driving, hard-groove heavy mix was inspired by no other than Lindsay Lohan, who, in an interview with Oprah, admits to having done coke 10-15 times, and is totally addicted to chaos. The mix embodies this quite iconic set of odds, being in a quite hypnotic atmosphere, progressing towards a heavy, dark and thumping middle, before bumping up to a blissful climax ‘which is just… happy!’.

For the 41st. entry in the Fun Fun Mix series, we present Hoco Huoc, an artist born in N.R.G 101.1 in 1996, Quilmes, Buenos Aires province, where he currently lives and works. Self-taught, his work focuses on installations, collages, music and cooking. He defines himself as a very little simpleton artist of the occult and the sustained suburbs. He is a promoter of a warehouse underground, inhabitant of the night life and party dj, He has played at Fun Fun and here he delivers his most recent mixtape called Invierno 23. #ENJOY

Fun Fun Mix 41 - Hoco Huoc (Invierno 23)

Jacob Meehan, a native of Roodhouse, Illinois (population 1,700) cut his chops in Chicago, the home of house, while working at Gramaphone Records and throwing/playing parties in and around the city. A major player in the new queer underground, he now resides in Berlin where he has furthered his musical prowess as producer and resident DJ of the much-beloved fête, Buttons, and the epic summer standout, Whole Festival. 

Major Records is pleased to feature the very first single release from Meehan, featuring a remix by our very own Nita Aviance. "Hier" started out with a nod to the forefathers, referencing David Morales and Frankie Knuckles mix of Alison Limerick's "Where Love Lives,” but quickly grew into a deep house dream full of funky synth leads and anthemic arpeggios all layered over some kicky-fresh beats. 

Nita’s remix strips it all down only to build it back up again, leaning into the arpeggios and riding those new wave synths through the dark night and straight into the dawn with her signature diva vocal cut-ups.
